The law was challenged by the trade group NetChoice as a representative of social media businesses, which has challenged similar laws in eight other states.<\/p>\n<p>The law, Protecting Georgia&rsquo;s Children on Social Media Act of 2024, was introduced by a group of republican Georgia Senators in January of last year and was signed into law by April. Attorney General Chris Carr said Thursday that Georgia will be appealing the block.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Totenburg quoted the case of <em>Packingham v. North Carolina<\/em> in <a href=\"https:\/\/netchoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/2025-06-26-NetChoice-v.-Carr-Georgia-SB-351-INJUNCTION-GRANTED_Opinion-dckt-34_0.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">her decision<\/a>, saying &ldquo;social media specifically&mdash;represents &lsquo;the most important place&hellip; for the exchange of views.&#8217;&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.2);\"><b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3455109\/trump-embraces-daddy-social-media-campaign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"TRUMP EMBRACES &lsquo;DADDY&rsquo; TITLE IN LATEST SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN\">TRUMP EMBRACES &lsquo;DADDY&rsquo; TITLE IN LATEST SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p>While Totenburg affirmed the parental concerns about social media, she weighed that the law was still constitutionally demanding of her injunction.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>NetChoice has been able to get similar laws completely overturned in Arkansas and Ohio. Other laws are on hold in states such as California and Texas.
