The violations involve the company imposing illegal fees on military servicemembers who terminated their leases after receiving relocation orders. The DOJ noted that Greystar relied on software that automatically charged early termination fees to servicemembers,despite being aware that these charges violated the law.In addition to the fine, Greystar is also required to improve it&#8217;s training and policies to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/media-want-insubordination-not-independence-in-trumps-admin\/\" title=\"Media Want Insubordination, Not &#039;Independence&#039; In Trump&#039;s Admin\">ensure compliance wiht<\/a> the SCRA.Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon and U.S. Attorney Bryan Stirling emphasized the importance of protecting servicemembers&#8217; rights against unfair charges as a recognition of their service and sacrifices. or at least gets coverage for &mdash; is typically related to Trump&rsquo;s other big campaign platform, which is cracking down on illegal immigration.<\/p>\n<p>But the department is clearly taking all crimes seriously, including heinous ones perpetrated against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/military-vet-spots-muddied-piece-red-white-blue-cloth-amid-ruins-asheville-saw-sign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">military servicemembers<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>And the DOJ doesn&rsquo;t care if it has to tackle the &ldquo;nation&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >largest property management company&#038;rdquo<\/a>; \t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>The DOJ said Greystar &ldquo;imposed illegal fees on military servicemembers who terminated their leases after receiving military relocation orders.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Department alleged that Greystar, the nation&rsquo;s largest property management company with over 800,000 housing units under management, relied on software that it knew would automatically impose early termination charges on SCRA-protected servicemembers,&rdquo; the release notes.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from the fine (Greystar will pay $1.35 million to affected servicemembers, and an additional $77,370 in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/tsa-can-now-fine-you-for-not-masking-up-following-biden-executive-order\/\" title=\"TSA Can Now Fine You For Not Masking Up Following Biden Executive Order\">civil penalty<\/a>), the company has also been ordered to update its training and policies to be more SCRA compliant.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Greystar will pay triple damages to the servicemembers who paid the early termination charges,&rdquo; the DOJ notes.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We honor the service and sacrifices of our military by defending their rights under the law,&rdquo;Assistant Attorney General <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/numbers-harmeet-dhillon-absolutely-destroys-ronna-mcdaniel-new-poll-rnc-chairwoman\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harmeet K. Dhillon<\/a> said.
