Tanden was not privy to any of the decision-making process or who was giving the final approval. She rarely interacted with Biden. The system, according to her <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alexthomp\/status\/1937569093357334998\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opening statement<\/a>, was a relic of previous administrations.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-201022993\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Tanden denied that she had ever discussed the former president&rsquo;s fitness for office, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/top-biden-aide-admits-congress-she-directed-autopen-signatures-without-knowing-who-gave-final-approval.amp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fox News<\/a>. &ldquo;I had no experience in the White House that would provide any reason to question his command as President. He was in charge,&rdquo; she <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/alexthomp\/status\/1937569093357334998\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> in her statement.<\/p>\n<p>When <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/foxnews\/status\/1937902052471902712?s=46&amp;t=J30u5Y_Z_wASay3GqEuR2g\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asked<\/a> by a reporter after the hearing if there had been an &ldquo;effort to disguise President Biden&rsquo;s condition,&rdquo; she quickly denied it as she walked away.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Her testimony raises serious questions about who was really calling the shots in the Biden White House amid the President&rsquo;s obvious decline,&rdquo; Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The hearing is part of an ongoing investigation into the Biden White House&rsquo;s use of autopen while he was in office.<\/p>\n<p>Controversy surrounding Biden&rsquo;s mental fitness for office has only grown in recent months, especially following his <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/biden-cancer-prostate-be18c98abe341cd91277e1d3b75d5cd5\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">cancer diagnosis<\/a>. Even the left-wing media, who defended him for years, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/18\/nyt-admits-biden-was-never-qualified-for-second-term-after-downplaying-concerns-for-years\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">acknowledged his decline<\/a> before he left office.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, President Trump called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/05\/trump-launches-investigation-into-autopen-whether-biden-was-actually-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">open<\/a> an investigation into Biden staffers and others who may have conspired to hide the president&rsquo;s cognitive decline. To this end, the Oversight Committee is also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/top-biden-aide-admits-congress-she-directed-autopen-signatures-without-knowing-who-gave-final-approval.amp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">seeking<\/a> closed-door interviews with Biden&rsquo;s White House physician, chief of staff, deputy chief of staff, and a few senior advisers.
