Despite the ruling, the state intends to appeal, assuring that current participants in the program will not lose their funding immediately. the EdChoice program, which previously allocated substantial amounts for school vouchers, is the largest school choice initiative in Ohio, with over 143,000 students benefiting in fiscal year 2025. Any decision there will likely be appealed to the state Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Jaiza stayed the ruling through the appeals process.<\/p>\n<p>For the past two years, a private school&nbsp;voucher for a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-education-sec-on-womens-school-sports-we-have-a-legal-responsibility-to-include-transgender-athletes\/\" title=\"Biden Education Sec On Women\u2019s School Sports: We Have a \u2018Legal Responsibility\u2019 to Include Transgender Athletes\">high school student<\/a> was $8,407 and for K-12, $6,165.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Although this legal victory is likely the first step in a much longer process through the appeals courts, the ruling Tuesday represents a huge victory for Ohio&rsquo;s public school educators, school communities and students who have seen critical resources diverted from our public schools for years to <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >fund private school tuition payments<\/a> for mostly-wealthy families whose children had never attended their local public schools in the first place,&rdquo; Ohio Education Association President Scott DiMauro said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>EdChoice is not the only voucher program in Ohio, but it is the largest. The Cleveland Scholarship Program, Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship Program and Autism Scholarship Program also offer choice options.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3448928\/ohio-man-arrested-jewish-rep-max-miller-run-off-road\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">OHIO MAN ARRESTED AFTER JEWISH REP. MAX MILLER &lsquo;RUN OFF THE ROAD&rsquo; BY PERSON WITH PALESTINIAN FLAG<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>School Choice Ohio said more than 143,000 students used the EdChoice voucher program in fiscal year 2025.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;While we profoundly respect the judicial process, we vehemently disagree with the court&rsquo;s interpretation of Ohio&rsquo;s Constitution and believe the EdChoice program remains a constitutionally sound mechanism to empower families,&rdquo; Eric &ldquo;Yitz&rdquo; Frank, president of School Choice Ohio, said in a statement.&nbsp; &ldquo;We are confident of prevailing on appeal and will continue to stand alongside Ohio families who rely on these important programs.
