By removing these restrictions, the <em>Collegiate Sports Integrity Act<\/em> allows schools and student-athletes to voluntarily negotiate fair, flexible agreements that reflect their own values, not a federal mandate.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Paul suggested his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.paul.senate.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/SIL257231.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bill<\/a> is about freedom for college athletes and supports &ldquo;economic liberty.&rdquo; He said universities, colleges, and student-athletes competing in the NCAA should be able to construct their financial deals and arrangements without judicial scrutiny or actions.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is about economic liberty,&rdquo; Paul said. &ldquo;College athletes and schools should be free to come to the table and make their own deals, without unelected judges micromanaging every detail. Whether it&rsquo;s compensation, eligibility, or academic standards, Washington shouldn&rsquo;t be calling the plays.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Paul&rsquo;s bill follows a landmark judge-approved $2.8 billion <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/college-sports\/story\/_\/id\/45467505\/judge-grants-final-approval-house-v-ncaa-settlement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">settlement<\/a> between the NCAA and student-athletes earlier this month. Beginning this year, it is believed the total payouts for student-athletes will be limited to $20.5 million per school, according to ESPN.
