Pritzker for spreading false information regarding veterans&#8217; healthcare. Pritzker claimed in a mass email that veterans might be denied care based on their voting records, a statement the VA and the White House vigorously denied. Despite receiving clarification from VA Secretary Doug Collins days before his email, Pritzker insisted he would ensure veterans had access to necessary care in light of alleged proposed rules from the Trump administration that could allow such discrimination.The VA called Pritzker&#8217;s comments &#8220;irresponsible&#8221; and accused him of causing confusion that could discourage veterans from seeking care. J.B. Three days before Pritzker ordered state officials to take action, VA Secretary Doug Collins had publicly said the report was wrong.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This is completely and totally false,&rdquo; a VA spokesperson said. &ldquo;Gov. Pritzker is clearly consuming too much disinformation and needs to go on a news diet.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Collins responded with a video message on Friday after The Guardian, a British news outlet, first reported the VA changes on Monday. Collins said earlier this week that &ldquo;The Guardian is now conducting an internal investigation into its fabricated VA story &ndash; a piece so recklessly false and unbelievable that even the reporter who wrote it can&rsquo;t defend it.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Guardian reporter Aaron Glantz, who wrote the article, said the story was &ldquo;based on internal documents which reveal the VA has rewritten its medical staff bylaws by removing language that explicitly prohibited doctors from discriminating against patients based on their political beliefs or marital status.&rdquo; He added: &ldquo;We have <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >added additional context provided<\/a> by the VA after publication.&rdquo; The headline to the Guardian&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2025\/jun\/16\/va-doctors-refuse-treat-patients\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">article<\/a>&nbsp;was changed after publication.
