A pilot attempting to land a Stinson 108 Voyager aircraft avoided a turtle on the runway but crashed, resulting in two fatalities. Only one of the three passengers on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/video-china-eastern-boeing-737-crashes-into-mountain-with-132-onboard\/\" title=\"Video: China Eastern Boeing 737 ...es into Mountain with 132 Onboard\">board survived<\/a>. According to the report, the pilot was informed of the turtle&#8217;s presence before landing and raised the right wheel to evade it. After losing sight of the aircraft behind a hangar, a witness heard the crash and saw smoke. The airplane disappeared just over the trees on the northeast side of the runway and then he heard a loud <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-plane-headed-london-crashes-hundreds-board\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crash<\/a> and saw smoke,&rdquo; the report read.<\/p>\n<p>The radio operator on the ground had reportedly informed the pilot about the turtle before he attempted to land, according to the report.<\/p>\n<p>After the attempted landing, the aircraft smashed into a forested area more than 250 feet northeast of the runway before it caught on fire.<\/p>\n<p>The pilot was evidently attempting a go-around, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/myfox8.com\/news\/north-carolina\/piedmont-triad\/2-dead-after-small-plane-crashes-at-airport-in-mocksville\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WGHP-TV<\/a> in Greensboro, North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>A go-around is when a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/days-deadly-crash-killed-241-air-india-pilot-turns-flight-around-noticing-issue\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">pilot<\/a>, usually after a balked landing, applies full power and climbs to come back around for another landing.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;It can be a training maneuver.
