There&rsquo;s certainly no shortage of it that needs to be done in southern California, and neither Mayor Karen Bass nor Gov. Gavin Newsom is going to step up to the task.<\/p>\n<p>But, no, that&rsquo;s apparently not their focus, or at least their only one. Instead, they&rsquo;re also focusing on President Donald Trump&rsquo;s strikes against Iran&rsquo;s nuclear facilities.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Oh well,&rdquo; you might be thinking to yourself. &ldquo;Misplaced priorities, but at least they&rsquo;re concerned for our men and women in uniform.&rdquo; If only. Instead, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/fact-check-maxine-waters-right-just-1-2-people-committed-violence-la-riots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this being Los Angeles<\/a>, they had different concerns: They were concerned about the &ldquo;victims&rdquo; of the bombings.<\/p>\n<p>At&nbsp;<em>Iranian nuclear facilities<\/em>. What you meant to say was &ldquo;mosques.&rdquo; But anyway, it got worse than that, somehow.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our hearts go out to the victims and families impacted by the recent bombings in Iran,&rdquo; the Sunday message said. &ldquo;While this tragic event occurred overseas, the Los Angeles County Sheriff&rsquo;s Department is closely monitoring the situation alongside our local, state, and federal partners.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Literally the only correct call that was made during that paragraph was the decision to use the Oxford comma. Everything else is bogus as all get-out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/heartbroken-fox-news-star-bill-melugin-confirms-suffered-painful-loss-dc-plane-disaster\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bill Melugin<\/a> of Fox News, having screenshotted the original post, speculated that &ldquo;someone went rogue here w\/ an unapproved post.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The official, verified LA County Sheriff&rsquo;s Dept posted, then edited, then deleted this eyebrow raising post appearing to express condolences for the &ldquo;tragic&rdquo; US bombing of Iranian nuclear sites. Have to imagine someone went rogue here w\/ an unapproved post. What a PR disaster. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/QCe1cS1ct8\">pic.twitter.com\/QCe1cS1ct8<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Bill Melugin (@BillMelugin_) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BillMelugin_\/status\/1936948518633021866?\">June 23, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;m less sympathetic than he was: This is how Los Angeles operates, and it was only exposing this preposterousness to the rest of the world that they realized just how their sick, insular worldview would be taken by the rest of us who, rather wisely, don&rsquo;t think that there&rsquo;s any &ldquo;tragic event&rdquo; involved in taking out a theocratic kakistocracy&rsquo;s nuclear facilities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/4-current-former-members-single-sheriffs-department-die-apparent-suicides-2-day-span\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The department<\/a> would later issue a retraction, albeit one that raised more questions than it answered.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are issuing this statement to formally apologize for an offensive and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >inappropriate social media post recently posted<\/a> on our Department social media platforms regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran,&rdquo; the statement said. &ldquo;This post was unacceptable, made in error, and does not reflect the views of Sheriff Robert G. Luna or the Department.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We fully recognize that the words and messages we  carry weight,&rdquo; it continued. &ldquo;As law enforcement professionals, we are entrusted with a position of public responsibility, and that trust demands that we communicate accurately. In this instance, we fell short of that expectation, and we are taking quick corrective action. We are committed to learning from this failure and to prevent some incidents from occurring again.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"zxx\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/z6MhYB8knl\">pic.twitter.com\/z6MhYB8knl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; LA County Sheriffs (@LASDHQ) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LASDHQ\/status\/1936981037021827216?\">June 23, 2025<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>What you don&rsquo;t see here is a claim that &ldquo;someone went rogue here,&rdquo; just statements regarding some kind of vague boo-boo they made (&ldquo;some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/analysis-no-cares-about-ukraine-as-much-as-jennifer-rubin\/\" title=\"ANALYSIS: No Cares About Ukraine As Much As Jennifer Rubin\">social media posters<\/a> did something,&rdquo; as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/james-woods-blisters-ilhan-omar-despicable-people-something-statement-9-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ilhan Omar might put it<\/a>) and nothing about&nbsp;<em>why<\/em> it happened.<\/p>\n<p>Without an accountability statement &mdash; which this message does <em>not<\/em> have &mdash; it&rsquo;s impossible to say what happened here, but I lean towards wokeness blinders, since there&rsquo;s the predictable pablum about how the department&rsquo;s &ldquo;mission remains solely focused on protecting public safety and serving our diverse communities.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>This not being my first rodeo, I have to conclude what this means is, &ldquo;We wanted to signal that we think some angry troglodytes were going to attack some mosques and assure Muslims they&rsquo;re safe but went too far.&rdquo; If it were a rogue poster, they&rsquo;d have gladly thrown them under the bus. They didn&rsquo;t. If it was a hack, they should have said it. They didn&rsquo;t. A now-deleted post initially stated that &#8220;out of an abundance of caution,&#8221; they were increasing security at &#8220;places of worship and other sensitive locations throughout the county.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The message continued with condolences for those affected by the bombings in Iran: &#8220;Our hearts go out to the victims and families impacted by these recent bombings.&#8221; While acknowledging a tragic event overseas, they claimed to be monitoring it closely alongside local and federal partners-a statement filled with inaccuracies except for correctly using an Oxford comma.<\/p>\n<p>Bill Melugin from Fox News noted that someone likely posted this without approval after sharing a screenshot of it online. The official LA County Sheriff&#8217;s Department later issued a retraction stating their previous post was inappropriate and did not reflect Sheriff Robert G.
