We haven&rsquo;t been briefed, they should have called us all back [from House recess], and, frankly, we should have debated this War Powers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3445025\/massie-leads-bipartisan-house-resolution-limit-trump-war-powers-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Resolution that Ro Khanna and I offered<\/a>,&rdquo; he said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Massie and Rep. Ro Khanna&rsquo;s (D-CA) Iran War Powers Resolution highlights that the Constitution grants the power to declare war to Congress. Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) had introduced his own version of the resolution in the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH), who typically agrees with Trump on most issues, questioned his authority in authorizing the strike without congressional approval.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;While President Trump&rsquo;s decision may prove just, it&rsquo;s hard to conceive a rationale that&rsquo;s Constitutional,&rdquo; he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/WarrenDavidson\/status\/1936589759914127700\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">said<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/3450202\/hegseth-congress-leadership-informed-us-attack-iran-after-planes-safely-out\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">claimed<\/a> that the administration acted under the War Powers Act by notifying members of Congress after the strikes. The War Powers Act requires the executive branch to notify <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/Congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Congress<\/a> within 48 hours of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >committing armed forces<\/a> to military action and prohibits armed forces from remaining for more than 60 days.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/defense\/3446343\/bunker-buster-bombs-us-iran-israel-conflict\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>HOW THE US BUNKER-BUSTER BOMB WORKS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) claimed that there was an identified threat and that &ldquo;leaders in Congress were aware of the urgency of this situation and the Commander-in-Chief evaluated that the imminent danger outweighed the time it would take for Congress to act.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Top Democrats on the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT) and Sen. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/mark-warner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Mark Warner<\/a> (D-VA), however, said they were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/foreign-policy\/3450100\/democrats-intelligence-committees-not-briefed-us-bombs-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">not briefed on the strike<\/a>.
