Memphis Police Department officials said he allegedly scaled a wall into the mayor&rsquo;s subdivision and knocked on his door. Records show that Abston is an inmate at the Shelby County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office and has a hearing scheduled for Friday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/memphis-tennessee-mayor-paul-young-targeted-stalking-attempted-kidnapping-incident\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Memphis, we have to change how we talk to and about each other,&rdquo; Young wrote in the Facebook post. &ldquo;Disagreement must never lead to violence. That cannot be our norm. Let&rsquo;s do better.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The attempted kidnapping of Young has not been the only threat against Texas lawmakers this month. On Saturday, the Texas Department of Public Safety Capitol Region was notified of a credible threat against lawmakers in the state, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TxDPSCapitol\/status\/1934736518930731189\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">post on X<\/a>. A suspect was taken into custody, and there is an ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3445518\/supreme-court-upholds-tennessee-ban-transgender-procedures-minors\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">SUPREME COURT UPHOLDS TENNESSEE BAN ON TRANSGENDER PROCEDURES FOR MINORS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On that same day, a man killed Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband and wounded state Sen. John Hoffman, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3448426\/minnesota-john-hoffman-shot-nine-times-assassination-attempt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">shooting him and his wife nine and eight times<\/a>, respectively.
