Sarcone III outside a hotel in Albany, New York. Morales-Garcia, armed with a knife, was apprehended shortly after Sarcone called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/president-trump-pledges-orderly-transition-of-power\/\" title=\"President Trump pledges orderly transition of power\">local law enforcement<\/a>. He faces multiple charges, including attempted murder and has pending criminal charges in various states, along with a history of illegal reentry into the U.S. Albany is noted as a sanctuary city, which has historically limited cooperation with federal immigration enforcement. This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-in-congress-targeted-with-thanksgiving-day-bomb-threats-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Democrats in Congress targeted with Thanksgiving Day bomb threats - Washington Examiner\">incident highlights ongoing concerns<\/a> about <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >crime involving illegal immigrants<\/a>, as it occurs amidst a broader discussion on immigration policy in the U.S. Morales-Garcia is expected to return to court next week, with a grand jury investigation likely to follow.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>An illegal alien wielding a knife chased and lunged at U.S. Attorney John A. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/usao-ndny\/pr\/attorney-general-pamela-bondi-appoints-john-sarcone-iii-us-attorney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sarcone<\/a> III Tuesday night outside an Albany, New York, hotel, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/news\/article\/knife-wielding-man-chases-u-s-attorney-downtown-20382778.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Times Union<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That man, identified as Saul Morales-Garcia, is a previously convicted felon from El Salvador, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/wnyt.com\/top-stories\/sheriff-u-s-attorney-threatened-by-man-wielding-a-knife-in-albany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WNYT<\/a>. He was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news10.com\/video\/man-accused-of-attempted-murder-against-u-s-attorney-john-sarcone\/10817599\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charged<\/a> Wednesday with attempted murder, menacing, and criminal possession of a weapon, according to ABC 10 TV in Albany.<\/p>\n<p>Sarcone told the Times Union that he was walking toward the hotel and smoking a cigar when Morales-Garcia, 41, drew his attention. Morales-Garcia spoke to him in a foreign language and ultimately ran toward Sarcone with a knife in his hand. Sarcone went into the hotel and called local Sheriff Craig Apple, while keeping an eye on Morales-Garcia. Sarcone had Apple&rsquo;s number in his cell phone. Police arrived shortly and arrested Morales-Garcia.<\/p>\n<p>The Times Union reported that Morales-Garcia has &ldquo;criminal charges pending in Georgia, Virginia, Pennsylvania and federal court.&rdquo; He was already deported in 2010 and reentered the U.S. illegally. Local authorities confirmed to the Times Union that Morales-Garcia is in the country illegally. <\/p>\n<p>Morales-Garcia is expected back in court next week, and a grand jury investigation is likely, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/wnyt.com\/top-stories\/sheriff-u-s-attorney-threatened-by-man-wielding-a-knife-in-albany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">WNYT<\/a>. Morales-Garcia did not know Sarcone is a U.S. attorney, law enforcement told the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesunion.com\/news\/article\/knife-wielding-man-chases-u-s-attorney-downtown-20382778.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Union Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is not surprising that Morales-Garcia was living in New York&rsquo;s capital city. It has been a good place to hide. Albany is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyclu.org\/press-release\/nyclu-statement-doj-threat-sanctuary-cities-new-york-albany\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">long<\/a>-time <a href=\"https:\/\/projects.newsdoc.org\/newyorkmigrants\/section\/the-sanctuary-city-of-albany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sanctuary city<\/a> that in the past has refused to allow local law enforcement to share criminal information with federal immigration agents. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In February, Albany was among the cities that <a href=\"https:\/\/cbs6albany.com\/news\/local\/albany-among-cities-facing-federal-funding-review-under-trump-administration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">faced<\/a> a &ldquo;federal funding review&rdquo; by the Department of Justice for its <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/04\/15\/cities-offering-sanctuary-to-illegal-alien-rapists-and-killers-deny-it-to-their-own-residents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">sanctuary<\/a> status.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, the Trump Administration included Albany on a list of 15 New York regions still working against federal immigration laws, but the list has been removed from the Department of Homeland Security website.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Morales-Garcia is not the only illegal alien drawing the attention of authorities with alleged criminal actions.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/11\/mexican-illegal-alien-charged-with-attempted-murder-for-allegedly-throwing-molotov-cocktail-during-la-riots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Emiliano Garduno-Galvez,<\/a> an illegal alien from Mexico, was charged with attempted murder for allegedly heaving a Molotov cocktail at law enforcement during the Los Angeles riots. Earlier this month, illegal alien <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/05\/lawyer-for-boulder-suspects-family-was-banned-from-practicing-law-for-immigration-misconduct\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mohamed Soliman<\/a> allegedly threw Molotov cocktails into a  crowd of Jews and set some on fire in Boulder, Colorado.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps criminal behavior is a testament to how comfortable and entitled they have felt in the U.S. before President Donald Trump took office and cracked down on illegal immigration.
