Whoopi posited that being repressed by the regime in Tehran is exactly like being black or gay in the United States because &ldquo;we&rsquo;ve been known in this country to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/whoopi-goldberg-says-black-americans-have-it-just-as-bad-as-people-in-iran-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"... says ... ...ns have it just as bad as people in ... - Washington Examiner\">tie gay folks<\/a> to the car&rdquo; and &ldquo;used to just keep hanging black people!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The comments came in the context of a viral exchange on the volley of missiles between the two nations, as well as the prospect of regime change in Iran, between Texas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-heated-tucker-carlson-ted-cruz-go-toe-toe-jan-6-disagreement-lie\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sen. Ted Cruz and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson<\/a> during an interview conducted by Carlson. But that&rsquo;s (again) another issue. The real fun started when Griffin pointed out that Iran wasn&rsquo;t exactly, shall we say, woke.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Let&rsquo;s remember too, the Iranians literally throw gay people off of buildings,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;They don&rsquo;t adhere to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/sen-rand-paul-challenges-biden-transgender-sports-policy\/\" title=\"Sen. Rand Paul challenges Biden transgender sports policy\">basic human rights<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/white-house-releases-list-of-president-trumps-accomplishments-and-it-is-historic\/\" title=\"White House Releases List of President Trump\u2019s Accomplishments \u2013  And It Is Historic!\">international law<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Let&rsquo;s not do that! Let&rsquo;s not do that,&rdquo; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/watch-whoopi-goldberg-melts-view-learning-trump-wants-help-new-mothers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Goldberg<\/a> said in response. &ldquo;Because if we start with that &mdash; we&rsquo;ve been known in this country to tie gay folks to the car!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Pardon me? This got applause, believe it or not, despite the fact that she appears to be mixing up the 1990s murders of Matthew Shepard (a self-described gay man who was tied to a fence in what was initially believed to be a hate crime but is now generally considered to be the result of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/the-untold-truth-of-the-matthew-shepard-story\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">drug crime gone bad<\/a>) and James Byrd Jr. (a black man who was killed in Texas by white men <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2019\/04\/24\/texas-execution-john-william-king-james-byrd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">who dragged him behind a car<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I&rsquo;m sorry, but where the Iranian regime is today is nothing compared, is nothing compared to the Unites States,&rdquo; Griffin responded.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Listen, I&rsquo;m sorry! After all, tune into MSNBC and this is a caricature of Trump&rsquo;s America that holds more water than it should. Griffin went on to note that she couldn&rsquo;t even go out in public wearing what she had on &mdash; indeed, none of the women on the panel could &mdash; but Whoopi didn&rsquo;t buy the argument that &ldquo;it&rsquo;s not even the same.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Oh, no! That&rsquo;s not what you mean to say. It is the same,&rdquo; Whoopi said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think it&rsquo;s very different to live in the United States in 2025 than it is in Iran,&rdquo; Griffin said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Not if you&rsquo;re black!&rdquo; Whoopi shot back.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Not for everybody,&rdquo; Hostin interjected.<\/p>\n<p>Again, Goldberg: &ldquo;Not if you&rsquo;re black!&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Yeah, because I remember how the government killed <a href=\"https:\/\/iranhr.net\/en\/articles\/6200\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at least 500 people<\/a> during the George Floyd protests back in 2020 and banned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/know-losing-increasingly-desperate-iran-asks-people-delete-israeli-app-phones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WhatsApp and other communications services<\/a> to try and clamp down on the riots.<\/p>\n<p>Oh, wait, what? I&rsquo;m sorry, that&rsquo;s the death toll and government actions from the 2022 and 2023 Iranian protests, which were sparked by the death of a young woman who died in police custody for dressing with insufficient Islamic modesty &mdash; which is to say, her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.en-hrana.org\/woman-life-freedom-comprehensive-report-of-20-days-of-protest-across-iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">headscarf wasn&rsquo;t worn properly<\/a>. Which happens all the time for black and homosexual people in the United States, right?<\/p>\n<p>No. No it doesn&rsquo;t, and Whoopi should know better. She doesn&rsquo;t and shoots her mouth off because this gets the ratings. Once upon a time, if this were a conservative, CNN would be wringing its hands over &ldquo;misinformation&rdquo; and talking about &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/video-ex-fb-exec-says-time-use-anti-isis-techniques-conservatives\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deplatforming<\/a>&rdquo; her. Now, crickets. Funny how that works.<\/p>\n<p>This may be the stupidest, least informed, most propagandistic, most America-hating comment Goldberg has ever made.
