Paxton added. &ldquo;These potential instances of unlawful voting will be thoroughly investigated, and I will continue to stand with President Trump in fighting to ensure that our state&rsquo;s elections are safe and secure.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Texas obtained access to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service&rsquo;s Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements database. The online system verifies immigration status and naturalized U.S. citizenship information about individuals applying for benefits or licenses.<\/p>\n<p>Committed to election integrity, President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March directing the Department of Homeland Security to provide all states with free access to the SAVE database.<\/p>\n<p>Texas has been trying to gain access to the federal database for over a year.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;For years, states have pleaded for tools to help identify and stop aliens from hijacking our elections,&rdquo; USCIS spokesman Matthew Tragesser <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/newsroom\/news-releases\/uscis-deploys-common-sense-tools-to-verify-voters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"said\">said<\/a> last month. &ldquo;Under the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, USCIS is moving quickly to eliminate voter fraud. Greg Abbott announcing last year that <a href=\"https:\/\/gov.texas.gov\/news\/post\/governor-abbott-announces-over-1-million-ineligible-voters-removed-from-voter-rolls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"over 6,500 noncitizens\">over 6,500 noncitizens<\/a> had been removed from voter rolls since he signed a voting bill in 2021. Federal law prohibits foreign nationals from voting in federal, state, or local elections, but Trump and Republicans argue the law has not been upheld in this area.<\/p>\n<p>Texas has also cracked down on election fraud committed by public officials.
