The tankers, located off <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/iran\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the coast of Iran<\/a>, were reportedly experiencing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/shipping\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">navigational problems.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The ships involved were the <em>Adalynn<\/em> and <em>Front Eagle<\/em>. The jamming significantly affects vessels&rsquo; ability to report their positions.<\/p>\n<p>About 20% of the world&rsquo;s oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz, which separates the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Despite the importance of this critical waterway, some shipping firms have canceled their routes through the area due to the increased risks resulting from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/israel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the conflict between Israel and Iran.<\/a> Frontline, the world&rsquo;s largest publicly listed oil tanker company, said it would no longer take contracts to sail through the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>There are reports that the <em>Adalynn<\/em> is a &lsquo;dark fleet&rsquo; tanker. The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control previously accused it of violating trade sanctions with Venezuela. This was resolved after a change in ownership in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/opinion\/beltway-confidential\/3441360\/israel-iran-conflict-us-military-challenges\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">ISRAEL-IRAN WAR WILL BRING MILITARY AND TERRORISM CHALLENGES FOR US<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Increased tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz add to other maritime concerns in the region.
