Cotton asserted that when <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/celebrity-chef-delivers-food-to-d-c-law-enforcement\/\" title=\"Celebrity chef delivers food to D.C. law en...ment\">local police<\/a> are unable to manage a situation, calling in the National Guard is the next logical step. Responding to questions about the appropriateness of his language in light of political divisiveness, Cotton maintained his stance and emphasized the need for an &#8220;overwhelming show of force&#8221; to quell the unrest. Despite Cotton&#8217;s arguments, los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass disagreed, claiming that law enforcement had the situation under control and that the National Guard&#8217;s presence was unwarranted. The senator previously endorsed using the law in response to the Black Lives Matter riots that swept the nation in 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3442316\/adam-schiff-alex-padilla-every-right-interrupt-noem\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">ADAM SCHIFF SAYS PADILLA HAD &lsquo;EVERY RIGHT&rsquo; TO INTERRUPT DHS SECRETARY NOEM<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has insisted that the deployment of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/crime\/3442311\/karen-bass-few-arrests-la-federal-troops-dont-need-to-be-here\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">the National Guard was not necessary<\/a>, citing the low numbers of arrests in recent days. She added that law enforcement has &ldquo;complete control of the situation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The House Oversight Committee has announced that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3441338\/house-oversight-investigation-newsom-bass-la-riots\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">it is conducting an investigation into Bass and Gov. Gavin Newsom&rsquo;s (D-CA) response<\/a> to the riots. Reps.
