The evacuation was triggered by politically motivated assassination attempts on two lawmakers in Minnesota, where a suspect linked to the protests-who had related flyers in his vehicle-was arrested. protest at the location after &ldquo;credible threats&rdquo; were made against lawmakers planning to attend.<\/p>\n<p>The move occurred after a suspect in Minnesota with &ldquo;No Kings&rdquo; flyers in his car allegedly carried out assassination <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/no-kings-protests-canceled-across-minnesota-targeted-assassinations-appear-linked\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">attempts<\/a> on two state lawmakers, one of which was successful.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Department of Public Safety sent an alert early Saturday afternoon and the Capitol was evacuated shortly thereafter, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2025\/06\/14\/texas-credible-threats-lawmakers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> from The Texas Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>The outlet noted that the alert did not make clear the nature of the threat against lawmakers.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Earlier today, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Capitol Region identified a credible threat toward state lawmakers planning to attend a protest later today,&rdquo; Lulu Flores and John Bucy III.<\/p>\n<p>The &ldquo;No Kings&rdquo; protests are meant to oppose President Donald Trump and his immigration enforcement actions, among other policies.<\/p>\n<p>The evacuation of the Texas Capitol came hours after two Democratic lawmakers were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/lawmaker-shot-death-apparent-assassination-bongino-says-fbi-fully-engaged-ground\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">shot<\/a> in Minnesota during what appeared to be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/populist-coalition-orban-le-pen-morawiecki-vow-to-defend-national-sovereignty-from-eu-overreach\/\" title=\"Populist Coalition: Orban, Le Pen, Morawiecki Vow to Defend National Sovereignty from EU Overreach\">politically motivated attacks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota Democratic State Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, as well as Minnesota Democratic State Sen.
