The plane was carrying 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. One man survived.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to being Britain&rsquo;s head of state, Charles is the head of the Commonwealth, an organization of independent states that includes India and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/canada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The monarch&rsquo;s annual birthday parade, known as Trooping the Colour, is a historic ceremony filled with pageantry and military bands in which the king reviews his troops on Horse Guards Parade adjacent to St. James&rsquo; Park in central London.<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/king-charles-cancer-5e3928dd3f656a58faecb3b89907a647\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/britain-ve-day-parade-photo-gallery-buckingham-07e263dee587f93b363281cd1950a52e\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/billy-boston-knighthood-rugby-league-4db9e57cad52fde0cef792f486429c1a\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The military ceremony dates back to a time when flags of the battalion, known as colours, were &ldquo;trooped,&rsquo;&rsquo; or shown, to soldiers in the ranks so they could recognize them.<\/p>\n<p>Charles, wearing a <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >scarlet military uniform<\/a>, traveled to Horse Guards Parade in an open-topped, horse-drawn carriage accompanied by Queen Camilla.
