As reported by KCTV-TV, Missouri Governor Mike Kehoe-a Republican not seemingly engaged in a covert presidential campaign like Newsom-was anticipating protests throughout Missouri this weekend alongside further Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids nationwide. This coincided with the “No Kings” rallies occurring in various locations across the country on Saturday, opposing President Donald Trump. Consequently, on Thursday afternoon, Kehoe declared a state of emergency and mobilized the Missouri National Guard in response to potential protests within his state and ongoing “civil unrest” elsewhere. According to The Hill’s Friday report, “Missouri Executive Order 25-25 declares a State of Emergency and permits the Adjutant General to deploy service members to assist state officials.”

In light of planned immigration enforcement protests across Missouri, local authorities-including the Missouri Department of Public Safety and Highway Patrol-have formed a Unified Command to oversee situations statewide. Governor Kehoe emphasized that while they respect peaceful protest rights, they will not tolerate violence or disorder within their state.

Kehoe’s order stated that “additional resources from the State of Missouri may be necessary to alleviate distress conditions affecting citizens in cities like Kansas City, Springfield, St. Louis,” due to potential civil unrest. Unsurprisingly, this move did not sit well with Missouri Democrats or national leftist organizations.

Missouri House Minority Leader Ashley Aune criticized Kehoe’s preemptive emergency declaration as an overt attempt to intimidate citizens exercising their First Amendment rights amid growing tensions sparked by federal responses against dissenting voices.

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas expressed confidence in peaceful protesters while supporting law enforcement’s ability to manage any disruptions effectively without unnecessary escalation from higher authorities.

The American Civil Liberties Union also condemned Kehoe’s decision as an unwarranted provocation against public dissent and stressed that government officials must allow citizens their right to assemble peacefully.

Republicans rallied behind Governor Kehoe’s actions as necessary measures for maintaining order amidst rising chaos seen elsewhere in America. They argued that governors should prioritize governance over political posturing unlike some others who seem more focused on future ambitions than current responsibilities

[33651
38624,4173,8584,3678
post-2447308","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-the-western-journal","tag-civil-unrest","tag-governor","tag-missouri","tag-newsom
["GET
