But this choice is easy. The ad also doesn&rsquo;t name New York City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, who is running for mayor and supported a bill last November aimed at enabling the company in one- and two-family homes.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A 2023 law <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/new-legislation-could-bring-airbnb-back-to-new-york-city\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">essentially banned<\/a> the company from the city, with restrictions limiting which Airbnb listings remained eligible.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani, Lander, and Stringer have opposed the company or legislation that would benefit it. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Affordable New York was launched to support everyday New Yorkers who rely on short-term rentals to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/under-trump-americans-have-seen-their-best-wage-growth-in-40-years\/\" title=\"Under Trump, Americans Have Seen Their Best Wage Growth In 40 Years\">make ends meet<\/a>,&rdquo; the super PAC&rsquo;s spokesman, Michael Blaustein, said in a statement to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/06\/09\/airbnb-attacks-new-york-mayoral-candidates-in-1m-ad-spend-00395669\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Politico. <\/a>&ldquo;These candidates continue to promote a false narrative blaming hosts for the housing crisis, despite evidence to the contrary. That rhetoric protects special interests, not New Yorkers.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Two out of the three candidates attacked Cuomo after the ad launch in statements to <em>Politico<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;While Andrew Cuomo is funded by huge corporations who are trying to bribe their way into City Hall, Brad Lander is a man of the people and can&rsquo;t be bought,&rdquo; said Lander campaign spokeswoman Dora Pekec.<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani spokesman Andrew Epstein repeated that Cuomo will &ldquo;raise your rent.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;First, it was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2025\/06\/05\/landlord-lobby-will-boost-cuomo-with-2-5m-spend-00389886\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the landlord lobby donating $2.5 million<\/a>&nbsp;to the disgraced ex-governor,&rdquo; he said, referencing the New York Apartment Association&rsquo;s ad campaign. &ldquo;Now, it&rsquo;s Airbnb spending another million to stop our momentum.
