He noted that the decision to return Abrego Garcia to the U.S. from El Salvador, where he had been imprisoned, was made by U.S. authorities and not by him, although he was supportive of the DOJ&#8217;s actions. abrego Garcia, allegedly linked to the gang MS-13, was deported in march under what the administration called an &#8220;administrative error&#8221; despite a previous judge&#8217;s order barring his removal to El Salvador. the president said.<\/p>\n<p>Trump also revealed the decision from U.S. authorities to send Abrego Garcia back to the U.S. from <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/el-salvador\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">El Salvador<\/a>, where he was previously imprisoned, to face federal charges was not one he made, though he signaled that he is &ldquo;fine&rdquo; with the DOJ&rsquo;s move.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;That wasn&rsquo;t my decision,&rdquo;&nbsp;the president said.&nbsp;&ldquo;The Department of Justice decided to do it that way, and that&rsquo;s fine.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s comments follow Abrego Garcia&rsquo;s return to the U.S. on Friday to face the federal charges.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing the charges, Attorney General <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/pam-bondi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Pam Bondi<\/a> revealed that &ldquo;over the past nine years Abrego Garcia has played a significant role in an alien smuggling ring.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>She also noted that the <a href=\"http:\/\/washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/trump-administration\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Trump administration<\/a> would ultimately seek to send him back to El Salvador.<\/p>\n<p>Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national who officials believe to be a member of the violent gang MS-13, was mistakenly deported by the Trump administration in mid-March.
