Spearheaded by Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC), alongside bipartisan support from three Republican and three Democratic senators, the bill seeks to enable default electronic delivery of these documents, streamlining the process in sync with modern digital practices. The legislation addresses the outdated opt-in requirement for document delivery that hasn’t changed in 20 years, promoting efficiency and environmental benefits through reduced paper use. While defaulting to electronic delivery, it maintains an option for investors to choose paper documents if they prefer. The bill reflects a growing consensus that enhancing the investor experiance is essential as the economy increasingly operates in a digital landscape.

Modern investor disclosure proposed in Senate

(The Center Square) – The Securities and Exchange Commission would need to propose rules that allow for the default electronic delivery of regulatory documents to investors if a North Carolinian’s proposal in the U.S. Senate becomes law.

Improving Disclosure for Investors Act of 2025, known also as Senate Bill 1877, is the product of Sen.
