So far, he has refused to cooperate. In a letter sent on Thursday, the committee demanded, with the power of a subpoena, that he sit for a deposition on June 27.<\/p>\n<p>Despite numerous <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/05\/26\/12-times-the-federalist-called-out-bidens-decline-when-legacy-media-wouldnt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">concerning<\/a> public <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/05\/13\/propaganda-press-launches-reputation-rescue-op-after-covering-up-bidens-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moments<\/a> when Biden seemed <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/05\/14\/9-times-jake-tapper-dismissed-bidens-decline-claimed-hes-sharp-mentally\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">too old<\/a> and infirm to handle the grueling work of the presidency, O&rsquo;Connor gave Biden a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/07\/10\/what-did-the-presidents-doctor-know-about-bidens-mental-decline-and-when\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">clean<\/a> bill of health. In February 2024, O&rsquo;Connor assessed Biden as &ldquo;a healthy, active, robust 81-year-old male, who remains fit to successfully execute the duties of the Presidency,&rdquo; noted the <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/2025.05.06-Subpoena-Cover-Letter-to-Dr.-Kevin-OConnor.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">letter<\/a> from committee Chair James Comer.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fdrlst__b89e9-paragraph-2 d-flex justify-content-center\" style=\"margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center; \" id=\"fdrlst__b89e9-51050761\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1463670073398-0\" class=\"mb-30\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>This assessment is nearly impossible to believe because that same month, Special Counsel Robert Hur unsealed his report to the Department of Justice that found problems with Biden&rsquo;s handling of classified documents. Hur doubted he could secure a conviction and declined to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/02\/08\/prosecutors-decline-to-charge-elderly-biden-over-poor-memory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">charge Biden<\/a> because, according to Hur, &ldquo;Biden would likely present himself to the jury, as he did during our interview with him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.&rdquo; Hur went on to say, &ldquo;It would be difficult to convince a jury that they should convict him &mdash; by then a former president well into his eighties &mdash; of a serious felony that requires a mental state of willfulness.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Incredibly, Biden remained president until the end of his term, making few appearances and reportedly signing almost everything with a staff-operated autopen, which is also currently under <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/05\/trump-launches-investigation-into-autopen-whether-biden-was-actually-president\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">investigation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Within months of Biden leaving the White House, his family announced he has <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/05\/20\/doctor-bidens-team-was-completely-incompetent-or-covered-up-his-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">advanced<\/a> prostate cancer. How did O&rsquo;Connor miss that?<\/p>\n<p>The Oversight Committee is investigating more than the state of Biden&rsquo;s health. It wants to know if O&rsquo;Connor was personally motivated to produce favorable reports for his own gain. &nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The committee expressed its interest in whether your financial relationship with the Biden family affected your assessment of former President Biden&rsquo;s physical and mental fitness to fulfill his duties as President,&rdquo; Comer&rsquo;s letter said. &ldquo;Given your connections with the Biden family, the committee sought to understand if you contributed to an effort to hide former President Biden&rsquo;s fitness to serve from the American people.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>A Politico <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2024\/07\/08\/biden-physician-oconnor-family-business-00166934\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">piece<\/a> last year described O&rsquo;Connor as a personal friend to the Bidens who offered &ldquo;medical advice&rdquo; and made business connections for Joe Biden&rsquo;s brother Jim, who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-clinton-project-presents-nepotism\/\" title=\"The Clinton Project Presents: \u2018Nepotism\u2019\">seeking government contracts<\/a> from Veterans Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Last Congress, Chairman Comer also requested Dr. O&rsquo;Connor appear for a transcribed interview to discuss his medical assessments and involvement in the Biden family&rsquo;s influence peddling racket, but the Biden White House blocked his testimony,&rdquo; Comer&rsquo;s office said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/oversight.house.gov\/release\/chairman-comer-subpoenas-dr-oconnor-over-cover-up-of-bidens-mental-decline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The committee intends to look at O&rsquo;Connor&rsquo;s relationship with the Bidens and consider if Congress should &ldquo;revisit potential legislation to address the oversight of presidents&rsquo; fitness&rdquo; and possibly make changes to the Twenty-Fifth <a href=\"https:\/\/constitution.congress.gov\/browse\/essay\/amdt25-1\/ALDE_00013871\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Amendment<\/a>, which addresses how to remove a president who becomes unable to serve.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\">\n<div class=\"article-author-description fst-italic\">      Beth Brelje is an elections correspondent for The Federalist.
