Their initiative, Nucleus Embryo, aims to allow parents to select embryos based on desirable traits such as appearance and health status, effectively introducing a modern form of eugenics disguised as &#8220;preventative medicine.&#8221; Critics argue that this approach not only devalues human life but also promotes the discarding of embryos deemed less desirable.<\/p>\n<p>Nucleus Genomics&#8217; founder, Kian Sadeghi, positions this selection process as an advancement for future generations. Though, the ethical implications are significant, as these practices can lead to a commodification of life, where embryos compete for existence based on genetic criteria. Unfortunately for us, Huxley&rsquo;s 1932 musings about how far removed humanity will be from procreation to usher in an era of handpicked breeding have turned out to be more fact than fiction.<\/p>\n<p>The latest example of the slippery slope towards dystopia comes in the form of Nucleus Genomics, yet <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/07\/orchid-healths-genome-testing-promises-healthy-babies-but-delivers-morally-deplorable-eugenics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">another whole-genome sequencing company<\/a>. The founder&rsquo;s latest project, Nucleus Embryo, is solely dedicated to ensuring his customers feel <a href=\"https:\/\/mynucleus.com\/embryo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;empowered&rdquo;<\/a> to choose which of their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/the-global-fertility-industry-seeks-to-erase-women-from-procreation-one-manufactured-egg-at-a-time\/\" title=\"Global fertility industry erases women from procreation, one artificial egg at a time.\">test tube babies<\/a> get a chance at life via implantation based on the desirability of their alleged appearance such as eye and hair color, health predictors such as BMI and chronic pain, IQ, and predisposition to disease like Alzheimer&rsquo;s or disorders like schizophrenia.<\/p>\n<p>It is apparently not enough that more and more Americans are undergoing multiple rounds of in vitro fertilization (IVF) that will no doubt result in the loss of countless little lives. Now, the fertility industry and its tech bro partners want those harnessing the power of lab-created life to <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/06\/08\/popular-genetic-testing-pits-unborn-siblings-against-each-other-and-the-highest-scorer-gets-to-live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">rank that life<\/a> based on their desirable traits.<\/p>\n<p>Nucleus visionary and CEO Kian Sadeghi spent most of his Embryo project&rsquo;s launch day desperately sparring on social media in an attempt to call the stuff he&rsquo;s selling <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KianSadeghi5\/status\/1930378226267734098\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;preventative medicine.&rdquo;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Modern genetics is another tool parents can use &mdash; alongside love, opportunity, and care &mdash; to give their child the best possible start in life,&rdquo; he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/KianSadeghi5\/status\/1930293815841046996\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">insists<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Medicine is something used to treat or prevent sickness and disease. Nucleus&rsquo;  <a href=\"https:\/\/mynucleus.com\/science\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;state-of-the-art testing and analysis&rdquo;<\/a> purports to identify ailments in embryos before they ever make it to the womb. <\/p>\n<p>The company&rsquo;s prescription for those little lives that show signs of objectionable traits or illness, however, is not to treat them. It&rsquo;s a <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/06\/06\/under-the-guise-of-preventative-medicine-for-ivf-eugenics-is-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">eugenics<\/a>-fueled campaign, covered up with euphemisms, to make them compete for a chance in the womb.<\/p>\n<p>In true Orwellian fashion, Nucleus&rsquo; website <a href=\"https:\/\/mynucleus.com\/embryo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">simply suggests<\/a> its clients will &ldquo;ensure their embryos won&rsquo;t have any rare, pathogenic markers that we analyze for&rdquo; &mdash; doublespeak for sentencing the allegedly afflicted embryos to fate via cryogenic freezer, discard, or dissection.<\/p>\n<p>Sadeghi even eagerly pitches software that encourages clients to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yX01lLGF_qw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;name your embryos and leave notes on the ones you like.&rdquo;<\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<h2>&lsquo;For Science&rsquo;<\/h2>\n<p>Some would argue that when the first &ldquo;test tube&rdquo; baby was successfully born of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mylifetime.com\/she-did-that\/july-25-1978-louise-brown-the-worlds-first-test-tube-baby-was-born\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;groundbreaking&rdquo;<\/a>&nbsp;IVF experimentation in 1978, the blatant eugenics touted by Nucleus was not even in the realm of possibility. What&rsquo;s ensued over the last nearly 50 years, however, is deplorable experimentation on and disregard for human life that is justified to the public and policymakers as a necessary means to a noble end.<\/p>\n<p>Our society and culture&rsquo;s embrace and even elevation of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/gay-couple-in-nyc-demands-taxpayers-fund-creation-of-motherless-children\/\" title=\"Gay Couple In NYC Demands Taxpayers Fund Creation Of Motherless Children\">assisted reproductive technology<\/a> has wreaked havoc on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/05\/kourtney-kardashian-barker-stops-ivf-after-discovering-it-really-took-a-toll-on-my-health\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">women&rsquo;s bodies and minds<\/a>, deliberately left innocent children without&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/10\/05\/gay-couple-in-nyc-demands-taxpayers-fund-creation-of-motherless-children\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mothers<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/03\/09\/fiancee-of-slain-reporter-plans-to-create-fatherless-baby-using-sperm-harvested-hours-after-his-death\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">or fathers<\/a>, made human existence&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/08\/12\/heres-what-mindy-kaling-gets-wrong-in-her-plea-for-college-girls-to-freeze-their-eggs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">transactional<\/a>, effectively&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/02\/02\/theres-only-one-way-for-the-1-million-embryos-stuck-in-frozen-orphanages-to-make-it-out-alive-adoption\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">doomed<\/a>&nbsp;millions of unborn lives to frozen orphanages, and created a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/03\/26\/big-fertility-harms-babies-and-women-so-why-are-we-celebrating-it\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">moral and ethical minefield of problems<\/a>&nbsp;that will haunt generations. <\/p>\n<p>To the touters of ART, IVF is not a last resort to reproduce but the future of procreation, a <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC8722744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;new normal.&rdquo;<\/a> <\/p>\n<p>Sadeghi truly believes that his eugenics-like analysis on embryos will become <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yX01lLGF_qw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;everyday practice.&rdquo;<\/a> His optimism mirrors calls from other whole-genome sequencing creators, such as Orchid founder Noor Siddiqui, who <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/05\/07\/orchid-healths-genome-testing-promises-healthy-babies-but-delivers-morally-deplorable-eugenics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">asserted<\/a> not long ago that handpicked breeding is the &ldquo;future of how all babies will be created.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>What seems to have begun as a few tech bros messing around with CRISPR has turned into an entire movement of mad scientist-like entrepreneurs, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/health\/embryo-ivf-screening-longevity-2b1f096a?st=QHii3U&amp;reflink=article_copyURL_share\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">boosted with publicity from corporate media,<\/a> selling their eugenics startups&rsquo; pitches to anyone who can afford their steep prices.<\/p>\n<p>But the future is not as bright as they want to make it seem. <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/07\/22\/the-global-fertility-industry-seeks-to-erase-women-from-procreation-one-manufactured-egg-at-a-time\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Procreation without women<\/a> by <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >reprogramming adult male stem cells<\/a> to become usable eggs,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/15\/with-artificial-wombs-sci-fi-horrors-would-become-reality\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">artificial wombs<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/12\/10\/how-one-scientist-lost-big-trying-to-genetically-enhance-unborn-babies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">&ldquo;gene editing,&rdquo;<\/a> and more eugenics are all on the ART horizon, threatening to replace the sacred act of reproduction with soul-eroding <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2023\/05\/17\/worried-about-an-ai-dystopia-the-global-fertility-industry-has-it-beat-by-decades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">transhumanism<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Even if regulators finally decide to intervene, it will be too late. <\/p>\n<p>The mere existence of Nucleus Embryo and Orchid suggests there is a significant level of public demand and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20241216400051\/en\/Gameto-Announces-World%E2%80%99s-First-Live-Birth-Using-Fertilo-Procedure-that-Matures-Eggs-Outside-the-Body\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">private funding<\/a> for projects rooted in the belief that human life is only valuable if it will look, act, or be a certain way.  <\/p>\n<p>A society that has proven time and time again that it is willing to sacrifice life in its smallest, most vulnerable form in the name of science and technological advancement needs more than a few laws to be fixed.
