The center was established in 2021 with the aim of addressing historical marginalization and promoting racial healing within the community. However, the decision to close it comes as part of the university&#8217;s compliance with recent <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >federal executive orders<\/a> and directives from the U.S. Department of Education. Kellogg Foundation, a liberal grantmaking charity.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/investigations\/3427191\/dozens-of-american-universities-maintain-partnerships-with-chinese-military-linked-entities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>DOZENS OF AMERICAN UNIVERSITIES MAINTAIN PARTNERSHIPS WITH CHINESE MILITARY-LINKED ENTITIES<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Some of GMU&rsquo;s other efforts to clamp down on DEI have been reported by the press. For instance, the university&rsquo;s law school <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arlnow.com\/2025\/02\/25\/gmus-scalia-law-school-removes-dei-pages-prompting-student-petition\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">removed web pages<\/a> related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in February.
