The bill, known as House Bill 2867, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-pressure-biden-to-bring-home-former-marine-imprisoned-by-russia\/\" title=\"Republicans Pressure Biden To Bring Home Former Marine Imprisoned By Russia\">received bipartisan support<\/a> in the Arizona House with a vote of 38-20. It aims to prohibit public schools and colleges from engaging in or promoting antisemitic behavior, and <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >establishes disciplinary procedures<\/a> for violations. Under this legislation, educators cannot instruct students in antisemitic content, create unfriendly educational environments, or require students to advocate for antisemitic views. Striking down antisemitism in educational settings is emphasized, with increasing penalties for repeat offenders. They&rsquo;re barred from creating &ldquo;a hostile educational environment&rdquo; and can&rsquo;t call for genocide of any groups.<\/p>\n<p>The legislation also says students can&rsquo;t be required to advocate for &ldquo;an antisemitic point of view&rdquo; or promote antisemitic conduct. It also prohibits the use of public funds for antisemitic instruction.<\/p>\n<p>HB 2867 also stipulates schools can&rsquo;t require curriculum that includes antisemitism or antisemitic conduct or award credit to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-education-sec-on-womens-school-sports-we-have-a-legal-responsibility-to-include-transgender-athletes\/\" title=\"Biden Education Sec On Women\u2019s School Sports: We Have a \u2018Legal Responsibility\u2019 to Include Transgender Athletes\">high school student<\/a> who takes such a course.<\/p>\n<p>Under the legislation, the first offense by a teacher or principal leads to a formal reprimand. Their professional certificate can be suspended for a period after the second offense and revoked after the third. The bill also allows students and their parents to take court action after administrative remedies are exhausted.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Arizona&rsquo;s students and teachers deserve to learn and work in an environment free from antisemitic hate,&rdquo; said state Rep. Michael Way, R-Queen Creek, the legislation&rsquo;s sponsor, in a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.azleg.gov\/press\/house\/57LEG\/1R\/250604WAYHB2867.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">House news release<\/a>. &ldquo;This bill ensures schools are places of learning, not battlegrounds for political indoctrination.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The release said the bill is part of the House Republican Majority Plan&rsquo;s priority to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/facebook-board-upholds-trump-ban-demands-platform-clarify-standards\/\" title=\"Facebook Board Upholds Trump Ban, Demands Platform Clarify Standards\">promote public safety<\/a> and confront hate in Arizona schools.<\/p>\n<p>Opponents of the bill have included the Arizona Education Association. They say existing disciplinary measures are enough to prevent teachers from acting in a discriminatory manner.
