Brown case, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/roberts-coney-barrett-defect-force-trump-admin-spend-money-us-doesnt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">once again<\/a>, Chief Justice John Roberts, along with Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh, joined with the liberals to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/24pdf\/24-203_5ie6.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deny certiorari<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>That means the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling from last August upholding the ban will remain in place.<\/p>\n<p>Judge J. Harvie Wilkinson III, a Reagan appointee, wrote for the <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/regulation\/court-battles\/4814489-federal-appeals-court-upholds-md-gun-law\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10-5 majority<\/a> in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ca4.uscourts.gov\/opinions\/211255.P.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">decision<\/a> that his court would &ldquo;decline to wield the Constitution to declare that military-style armaments which have become primary instruments of mass killing and terrorist attacks in the United States are beyond the reach of our nation&rsquo;s democratic processes.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/justice-kavanaughs-dark-prediction-happens-america-politically-motivated-charges-allowed-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kavanaugh<\/a>, who has been a more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/analysis-americans-support-monthly-child-tax-credits-why-dont-republicans-in-congress\/\" title=\"ANALYSIS: ... Heller<\/a> case, the high court ruled that &ldquo;the Second Amendment protects those weapons that are in &lsquo;common use&rsquo; by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/california-sheriffs-tell-newsom-they-wont-enforce-covid-curfew\/\" title=\"California Sheriffs Tell Newsom They Won&#039;t Enforce COVID Curfew\">law-abiding citizens<\/a>.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Further, he wrote, &ldquo;Americans today possess an estimated 20 to 30 million AR&ndash;15s. And AR&ndash;15s are legal in 41 of the 50 States, meaning that the States such as Maryland that prohibit AR&ndash;15s are something of an outlier.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2025\/jun\/2\/supreme-court-allows-marylands-ar-15-gun-ban-remain\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Washington Times<\/a> reported that &ldquo;Maryland, Washington, California, Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Delaware have assault weapon bans that cover AR-15s.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In his dissenting opinion, Justice Thomas refuted the Kavanaugh position of waiting for the next case.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/clarence-thomas-makes-point-day-supreme-court-hears-arguments-birthright-citizenship-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thomas<\/a> pointed out that as long as the Supreme Court leaves the issue of the legality of AR-15 ownership open, the federal government could step in with a regulation labeling it a machine gun, and therefore banning the firearm nationwide.<\/p>\n<p>AR-15s require shooters to pull the trigger each time they want to fire, but modifications like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/supreme-court-agrees-hear-case-challenging-ban-iconic-firearm-attachment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bump stocks<\/a> can be added to make the gun, in effect, fire much like an automatic weapon, according to the Times.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Not only will the proposed regs turn bump stock owners into instant felons, they can erroneously deem AR-15\/bump stock fire to be &ldquo;automatic fire.&rdquo; Then a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/house-republicans-seek-to-ban-use-of-special-retail-codes-to-track-gun-sales-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"House Republicans seek to ban use of special retail codes to track ... sales - Washington Examiner\">future anti-gun admin<\/a> could deem AR-15s as full automatics under those circumstances.<\/p>\n<p>Take action: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/PeffyixwJa\">https:\/\/t.co\/PeffyixwJa<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/L7li1NOVsV\">pic.twitter.com\/L7li1NOVsV<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Gun Owners of America (@GunOwners) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GunOwners\/status\/989580115943264256?\">April 26, 2018<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I would not wait to decide whether the government can ban the most popular rifle in America,&rdquo; Thomas wrote. &ldquo;We have avoided deciding it for a full decade.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Adam Kraut &mdash; executive director of the Second Amendment Foundation, which <a href=\"https:\/\/saf.org\/snope-v-brown\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">challenged<\/a> the Maryland law &mdash; responded to the Supreme Court decision to deny review of their case, posting on X, &ldquo;It is an egregious error that the Court continues to sidestep addressing an important issue that requires its intervention.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Today, the Supreme Court denied cert in <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/2AFDN?\">@2AFDN<\/a>&rsquo;s challenge to Maryland&rsquo;s Assault Weapons Ban.
