A joint stipulation filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia called for the lawsuit&#8217;s dismissal with prejudice,meaning it cannot be refiled,and each party will bear its own legal costs. The lawsuit, filed in August 2022, accused Navarro of failing to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/peter-navarro-asks-gorsuch-to-be-released-from-prison-pending-appeal-of-conviction\/\" title=\"Peter Navarro requests Gorsuch&#039;s release from prison during the appeal process\">return presidential records<\/a> to the National Archives, which he retained in violation of federal laws, including the presidential Records Act. This action followed Navarro&#8217;s previous legal troubles,where he was charged with contempt of Congress for not complying with the House Jan. 6 committee&#8217;s requests. the lawsuit filed by the Biden DOJ claimed. &ldquo;Mr. Navarro&rsquo;s wrongful retention of Presidential records violates District of Columbia law, federal common law, and the [Presidential Records Act].&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit was one of the prosecutions sought by the Justice Department under the Biden administration. The initial filing came months after the Biden DOJ arrested Navarro and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/396363\/peter-navarro-indicted-on-contempt-of-congress-charges-in-custody\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"charged him with contempt of Congress\">charged him with contempt of Congress<\/a> for failing to hand over documents and testify before the now-defunct House Jan. 6 committee.<\/p>\n<p>Navarro was one of two Trump allies, along with former White House chief strategist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/archives\/opa\/pr\/stephen-k-bannon-indicted-contempt-congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Stephen Bannon\">Steve Bannon<\/a>, charged with contempt of Congress, a rarely prosecuted crime, by the DOJ under the Biden administration. Trump was indicted on charges that he had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/cnns-smerconish-trump-suffering-death-by-a-thousand-cuts-legally-speaking\/\" title=\"CNN&#039;s Smerconish: ...
