\t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>But according to AFL counsel Megan Redshaw, it&rsquo;s not so much that the university has been blatantly continuing its DEI practices in the face of these rulings&nbsp;as it that the school has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/alert-major-university-covertly-rebrands-dei-office-innocuous-sounding-name\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">covertly rebranded<\/a> all of its discriminatory programs in an attempt to appear DEI-free.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;UVA has not dismantled its DEI framework &mdash; it has merely rebranded it to evade legal scrutiny,&rdquo; Redshaw explained in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What the law prohibits, UVA simply renamed,&rdquo; she added.<\/p>\n<p>The DOJ&rsquo;s decision to launch an investigation was reportedly prompted by a <a href=\"https:\/\/media.aflegal.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/23115228\/Letter-to-DOJ-AAG-Dhillon-regarding-UVA.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">letter<\/a> sent by AFL to the department earlier in the month, detailing numerous examples of this rebranding.<\/p>\n<p>The letter noted, for example, that UVA&rsquo;s Darden School of Business still &ldquo;retains diversity-focused scholarships, programming, and a Chief Diversity Officer who oversees strategic implementation.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Darden also partners with external organizations to offer scholarships that favor students based on impermissible characteristics,&rdquo; the letter continued.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the school retained many <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/race-equity-director-spreads-sick-conspiracy-princess-kates-cancer-diagnosis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DEI-linked positions<\/a> but just renamed them.<\/p>\n<p>Take the &ldquo;Associate Director of Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion,&rdquo; for example.
