AAF describes the CBO&#8217;s forecasts as &#8220;wildly inaccurate,&#8221; particularly criticizing its recent estimate that President Trump&#8217;s tax plan would increase national debt by $3.8 trillion. <\/p>\n<p>In a memo to lawmakers, AAF points out that actual tax revenues have exceeded CBO&#8217;s projections as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) was enacted, advocating for the permanence of its provisions to avert a substantial tax hike scheduled for late 2025. As attention turns to the Senate, conservatives have threatened to derail the bill without even larger spending cuts.<\/p>\n<p>The White House <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/articles\/2025\/05\/fact-one-big-beautiful-bill-cuts-spending-fuels-growth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">estimates<\/a> that the House-passed bill would save more than $1.6 trillion, largely due to Medicaid and food stamps reforms, but Trump has yet to win over Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and other fiscal conservatives drawing a red line on spending.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3419000\/trump-big-beautiful-bill-hits-fiscal-hawks-torturous-politics-price-climbs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>FISCAL HAWKS CONFRONTED BY &lsquo;STAGGERING&rsquo; PRICE TAG OF TRUMP&rsquo;S &lsquo;BIG, BEAUTIFUL BILL&rsquo;<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>AAF is not alone in criticizing the accuracy of the CBO, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/johnson-faces-brewing-house-revolt-over-senate-budget-plan-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Johnson faces brewing ... revolt over Senate budget plan - Washington Examiner\">past budget fights<\/a> have <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >featured similar conservative complaints<\/a>. Obamacare enrollment in the 2010s was half of what the CBO originally forecasted, while the Medicaid expansion cost more.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Republicans claim Democrats are weaponizing CBO&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/democrats-energycommerce.house.gov\/sites\/evo-subsites\/democrats-energycommerce.house.gov\/files\/evo-media-document\/cbo-emails-re-e%26c-reconcilation-scores-may-11%2C-2025.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">projections<\/a> that 8.6 million people would lose their health coverage due to its Medicaid and Obamacare changes, as well as preliminary estimates showing a disproportionate benefit for higher-income earners.<\/p>\n<p>Right-leaning tax experts have similarly found the tax bill could add $3 trillion or more to the deficit over the next 10 years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3417819\/will-gop-tax-cut-pay-for-itself\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">even when accounting for economic growth<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The director of the CBO, Phillip Swagel, was appointed to the post in 2019 by congressional Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>AAF has <a href=\"https:\/\/advancingamericanfreedom.com\/calling-balls-and-strikes-house-wms-one-big-modestly-beautiful-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">select criticisms<\/a> of the bill, including a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3424614\/salt-changes-house-bill-increase-deficit-130-billion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">more generous SALT deduction<\/a> blue-state Republicans extracted from GOP leadership and new working-class tax exemptions Trump promised on the campaign trail.<\/p>\n<p>But the organization simultaneously views the legislation as critical to cementing the cuts Pence helped enact during his time as vice president. Senate Republicans are pursuing a novel accounting method that allows them to extend the TCJA beyond the 10-year window of reconciliation, a budget process that sidesteps the filibuster.<\/p>\n<p>Starting Friday, AAF plans to run a five-figure ad campaign thanking five battleground Republicans who supported the House bill: Reps. Tom Barrett (R-MI), John James (R-MI), Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA), Scott Perry (R-PA), and Derrick Van Orden (R-WI).<\/p>\n<p>The campaign is part of a larger, <a href=\"https:\/\/advancingamericanfreedom.com\/advancing-american-freedom-announces-10-million-nationwide-campaign-championing-the-trump-pence-tax-cuts\/\">$10 million investment<\/a> AAF rolled out last June to advocate its passage.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3420126\/senate-big-beautiful-bill-promises-upend-trump-house-compromise\/\"><strong>SENATE PROMISES TO UPEND TRUMP&rsquo;S &lsquo;BIG, BEAUTIFUL&rsquo;
