Investors have adopted an acronym for their new trade strategy: &ldquo;Trump always chickens out,&rdquo; or TACO. The strategy holds that Trump will always renege on tariff threats, so it&rsquo;s best to buy the dip following the immediate panic caused by new tariff announcements.<\/p>\n<p>The president reiterated that he wasn&rsquo;t a fan of the term.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;But don&rsquo;t ever say what you said, that&rsquo;s a nasty question. To me, that&rsquo;s the nastiest question,&rdquo; he added.<\/p>\n<p>Trump&rsquo;s April announcement of &ldquo;Liberation Day,&rdquo; imposing hefty tariffs on nearly every country, triggered a period of massive market volatility.<\/p>\n<p>April 7 saw some of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3372883\/stock-market-swings-wild-monday-wall-street\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"most volatile behavior in market history\">most volatile behavior in market history<\/a>. The S&amp;P 500 witnessed one of the most dramatic swings, taking place over 15 minutes, from 10:10 a.m. to 10:25 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>At 10:10 a.m., traders became aware of an erroneous report amplified by CNBC, claiming Trump was considering a 90-day pause on his &ldquo;Liberation Day&rdquo; tariffs. Within 10 minutes, the S&amp;P 500 added $3 trillion. The White House Rapid Response X page&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RapidResponse47\/status\/1909254710361575428\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quickly shot down the report, calling it<\/a>&nbsp;&ldquo;wrong&rdquo; and &ldquo;fake news.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Once traders heard about the denial at 10:20 a.m., the S&amp;P 500&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/unusual_whales\/status\/1909314984619974734\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">lost $2.5 trillion in five minutes<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The same pattern was reflected in the Nasdaq and Dow Jones.<\/p>\n<p>Announcements of trade deals, tariff deadline extensions, and the lowering of tariffs all helped contribute to a market revival after an initial crash. The market has now regained most of its value, partially due to the TACO strategy.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;So, the returns are somewhat conclusive: The TACO trade has worked and buying stocks on <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >extreme tariff-related threats<\/a> has worked,&rdquo; Tom Essaye, founder of Sevens Report Research, said, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.marketwatch.com\/story\/the-taco-trade-is-the-talk-of-wall-street-heres-one-way-to-play-it-b4dea7be\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"according to\">according to<\/a> Market Watch.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3408068\/stock-markets-surge-after-us-china-slash-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"STOCK MARKETS SURGE AFTER US AND CHINA AGREE TO SLASH TARIFFS\">STOCK MARKETS SURGE AFTER US AND CHINA AGREE TO SLASH TARIFFS<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Despite paying off so far, however, he warned that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/supreme-court-wont-block-texas-abortion-law\/\" title=\"Supreme Court Won\u2019t Block Texas Abortion Law\">long-term prospects<\/a> are less certain.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What will determine the next 15%-20% in this market isn&rsquo;t Trump&rsquo;s tariff talk.
