On May 16, Trump <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114517897638237566\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">wrote <\/a>on Truth Social that the OBBB &ldquo;will kick millions of Illegal Aliens off of Medicaid.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Illegal immigrants are inherently not allowed to obtain Medicaid other than for emergency services, but states receive some federal reimbursement for state expenditures, which would be affected.<\/p>\n<p>The bill would only reimburse states for 80% of expenses rather than 90% of costs when states use their own funds to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/meet-the-democrat-on-a-six-figure-income-who-cant-afford-to-buy-her-kids-shoes\/\" title=\"Meet the Democrat on a Six...Figure Income Who Can\u2019t Afford To Buy Her Kids Shoes\">provide health coverage<\/a> and financial assistance for illegal immigrants&rsquo; health insurance coverage.<\/p>\n<p>While the bill would boost the child tax credit to as much as $2,500 per child, it would only be available to adults with Social Security numbers in certain cases.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">If the bill passes, parents who use an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-makes-equitable-ppp-loans-easier-to-get-for-some-felons-ensures-access-for-non-citizen-small-business-owners\/\" title=\"Biden Makes \u2018Equitable\u2019 PPP Loans Easier To Get For Some Felons, Ensures Access For \u2018Non...Citizen\u2019 Small Business Owners\">individual taxpayer identification number<\/a> will no longer be able to seek a child tax credit. <a href=\"https:\/\/prospect.org\/blogs-and-newsletters\/tap\/2025-05-23-ten-sneaky-sleeper-provisions-trumps-big-beautiful-bill\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">According to<\/a> the <em>American Prospect<\/em>, roughly 4.5 million children who have a parent with a Social Security number who also pays taxes with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/ig-equity-official-used-gov-job-to-boost-her-entirely-duplicative-for-profit-firm\/\" title=\"IG: \u2018Equity\u2019 Official Used Gov Job To Boost Her \u2018Entirely Duplicative\u2019 For...Profit Firm\">tax identification number<\/a> would be ineligible<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>House Ways and Means Chairman Jason Smith (R-MO) endorsed the measure.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Millions of illegal immigrants let in by [former President] Joe Biden will finally no longer be eligible for refundable tax credits and will start paying the American taxpayer back,&rdquo; Smith said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/waysandmeans.house.gov\/2025\/05\/21\/the-one-big-beautiful-bill-holds-elites-accountable-ends-tax-payer-benefits-for-illegal-immigrants-provides-additional-relief-for-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">statement<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n<p>The massive budget bill also included language to impose a 3.5% tax on remittances sent out of the country by any non-U.S. citizen.<\/p>\n<p>For years, immigrants in the United States have sent money to loved ones back home through commercial wire service companies.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024, U.S. remitters sent $64 billion to Mexico. If last year&rsquo;s remittances continued this year, the U.S. government would earn roughly $2 billion in taxes.<\/p>\n<p>The Trump administration originally proposed a 5% tax, but dropped it slightly. <\/p>\n<p>Mexico&rsquo;s Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on May 16 that it would &ldquo;pursue the strongest political and legal defense&rdquo; against the bill&rsquo;s remittance language, according to a translation of the Spanish-language statement.<\/p>\n<p>If the bill is passed over the Affordable Care Act Marketplace, eligibility restrictions would be imposed on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals recipients. The Obama administration&rsquo;s ACA did not originally apply to DACA recipients, that is, illegal immigrants who first entered the country as children but now have temporary status to remain in the country.<\/p>\n<p>The Biden administration had attempted to expand Marketplace eligibility to 100,000 uninsured DACA recipients last year, but this bill would designate &ldquo;lawfully present&rdquo; individuals, or DACA recipients, as ineligible going forward.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3408507\/border-patrol-technology-us-canada-border\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">BORDER PATROL USING TECHNOLOGY TO &lsquo;WALL&rsquo; OFF CANADIAN BORDER<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fifth, many lawfully present immigrants who may have initially illegally entered the country would become ineligible for Medicare.
