The layoffs include 1,200 office-based employees and 1,000 consultants in Sweden, alongside 800 from its global workforce. Our aim is to support impacted employees and protect as many jobs as possible,&rdquo; the company told the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> at the time. &ldquo;Volvo Cars remains committed to its long-term future in the US and is balancing investments with the need to reduce costs and improve efficiency.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Similarly, Stellantis said it was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3368973\/stellantis-900-american-jobs-announces-pause-at-canada-and-mexico-plants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">planning to pause operations<\/a>&nbsp;at assembly plants in Canada and Mexico and lay off 900 employees.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a the&nbsp;tariffs imposed by Trump on foreign automobiles.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3335109\/honda-moves-manufacturing-new-civic-hybrid-mexico-us-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Honda&nbsp;<\/a>plans to manufacture its Civic Hybrid in the United States after the initial plan was to operate in Mexico.&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3361151\/hyundai-georgia-plant-major-production-boost-trump-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Hyundai<\/a>&lsquo;s Georgia plant will increase production by 67% rather than produce more outside of the country.<\/p>\n<p>American companies have begun decreasing their dependence on foreign parts. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/finance-and-economy\/3394964\/general-motors-praise-trump-auto-tariffs-caveat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">General Motors<\/a>&nbsp;CEO Mary Barra said less than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/business\/3397844\/gm-ceo-says-shift-back-to-us-started-before-auto-tariffs\/\" target=\"_blank\"
