NPR argues that this order bypasses legislative authority and is retaliatory, targeting these broadcasters as the President perceives their content as biased or unfair. The lawsuit contends that the administration&#8217;s actions violate the First Amendment&#8217;s free speech protections and threaten the viability of public radio, which millions depend on for news.NPR&#8217;s President, Katherine Maher, stressed that the executive order represents a clear constitutional violation. Trump and his allies have called the public broadcasters &ldquo;left-wing propaganda.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Executive Order is a clear violation of the Constitution and the First Amendment&rsquo;s protections for freedom of speech and association, and freedom of the press,&rdquo; NPR President and CEO Katherine Maher said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Every two years, Congress allocates funds for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.
