Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3382772\/chris-van-hollen-el-salvador-visit-denied-see-abrego-garcia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">traveled to El Salvador in April<\/a> to visit Abrego Garcia at CECOT, the country&rsquo;s notorious mega-prison where he has remained in custody. Van Hollen was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3383649\/chris-van-hollen-denied-entry-salvadoran-prison-kilmar-abrego-garcia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">denied visitation<\/a> access at first, but was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3384229\/van-hollen-meets-abrego-garcia-el-salvador-failed-attempts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">later allowed<\/a> to meet him.<\/p>\n<p>In court filings, the Trump administration said Abrego Garcia was <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >mistakenly deported due<\/a> to an &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/immigration\/3365262\/ice-administrative-error-maryland-kilmer-armado-abrego-garcia-salvadoran-prison\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">administrative error<\/a>.&rdquo; Federal courts and the U.S. Supreme Court have ordered the Trump administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/supreme-court\/3377382\/supreme-court-orders-trump-administration-return-mistakenly-deported-man-el-salvador\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">to &ldquo;facilitate&rdquo; his return to the U.S.<\/a>, but it has not done so.<\/p>\n<p>The administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3357775\/doj-bondi-invoke-state-secrets-privilege-boasberg-deportation-flights\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">invoked the state secrets privilege<\/a> in order to withhold information from Abrego Garcia&rsquo;s attorneys and a federal judge in Maryland. In response, Abrego Garcia&rsquo;s attorneys accused the Trump administration of delaying the court&rsquo;s orders to facilitate his return.<\/p>\n<p>In April, Ivey said, &ldquo;At this point, I&rsquo;m just assuming that [the Trump administration is] scared to bring him back because they&rsquo;ll have to go to court and explain all of the false statements that they&rsquo;ve apparently made about him.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/senate\/3405501\/democrats-berate-kristi-noem-not-facilitating-return-abrego-garcia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>DEMOCRATS BERATE NOEM FOR NOT FACILITATING RETURN OF DEPORTED ABREGO GARCIA<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Abrego Garcia had been living in Maryland for 14 years after entering the U.S. around 2011 without authorization.
