The DHS labeled the ACLU&#8217;s efforts as &#8220;frivolous&#8221; and &#8220;perilous,&#8221; asserting that removing these individuals from the U.S. serves to protect American citizens. The lawsuit was initially filed on behalf of 10 illegal immigrants who were threatened wiht transfer to Guantanamo. However, seven of them have already been deported, and the remaining three chose to drop the lawsuit. DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin criticized the ACLU for advocating on behalf of foreign criminals at the expense of American safety. They clearly could care less about the Americans that these illegal alien criminals victimize,&rdquo; she continued.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/transgender-aclu-lawyer-invents-absurd-new-term-describe-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ACLU<\/a> lawsuit was filed on March 1 on behalf of 10 illegal immigrants DHS was proposing to house at Guantanamo Bay prior to deportation.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Never before has the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >federal government moved noncitizens apprehended<\/a> and detained in the United States on civil immigration charges to Guant&aacute;namo. Nor is there any legitimate reason to do so now,&rdquo; the illegal immigrants said in their filing to avoid a trip to Gitmo, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/administration\/5315834-kristi-noem-guantanamo-bay-migrant-lawsuit-dropped\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Hill<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The government has ample detention capacity inside the United States, which is far less costly and poses none of the logistical hurdles attendant to detaining people on Guant&aacute;namo,&rdquo; the lawsuit said.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtontimes.com\/news\/2025\/may\/23\/kristi-noem-gloats-aclu-drops-one-challenge-migrant-deportations\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington Times<\/a>, Homeland Security told the judge hearing the suit that seven of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/6-illegal-immigrants-charged-mothers-brutal-murder-defies-sense-decency\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criminal illegal immigrants<\/a> named in the suit have already been deported.<\/p>\n<p>The three remaining had little chance of being sent to Guantanamo Bay, the adminsitration told the court.<\/p>\n<p>The three illegal immigrants &ldquo;no longer wish to continue litigating this case,&rdquo; wrote Lee Gelernt, an ACLU attorney.<\/p>\n<p>The release said those illegal immigrants not already deported voluntarily agreed to drop the lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>The release said that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/not-joking-biden-judge-orders-dhs-see-convicted-murderers-scared-deported\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DHS<\/a> achieved its purposes while the ACLU came up emptuy.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Fortunately, these criminals will no longer to be able to victimize American citizens,&rdquo; the release said.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The Department will continue to use all available resources to remove the dangerous criminal illegal aliens who were let into our country by the previous administration.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The decision was initially <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Sec_Noem\/status\/1925698710295466453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">announced on X<\/a> by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
