\t\t\t\t}); \t\t\t} \t\t<\/script> <\/p>\n<p>But as is, there isn&rsquo;t even an adequate answer to that question, and no case lays that out clearer than the case of New Yorker Starli Sanchez.<\/p>\n<p>The 34-year-old mother had her life turned upside down when she was shot in the leg on May 18 when she went grocery shopping in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>Tragically, someone did die during that shooting, and the trauma of it all has left Sanchez with little choice but to ditch the Big Apple.<\/p>\n<p>(According to <a href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/bronx-mom-caught-in-crossfire-speaks-out-after-innocent-bystander-killed-in\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">News 12<\/a>, 57-year-old Kevin Jennings, &ldquo;an innocent bystander&rdquo; was shot in the head.)<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We just have to get out of the city, actually, because it&rsquo;s getting very violent,&rdquo; Sanchez, a married city worker with two children, told the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/05\/20\/us-news\/mom-hit-by-stray-bullets-near-fordham-says-shes-had-enough-of-nyc-too-many-kids-with-guns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Sanchez continued: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s getting very bad every year because there are too many people with guns in the city.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Now, that may sound like your typical anti-Second Amendment preamble, but bear with her.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;There are too many kids with guns in the city,&rdquo; Sanchez continued. &ldquo;They have to take care of the situation.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The situation is getting out of hand with people having illegal guns everywhere in the city.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Ah, there you have it. The &ldquo;illegal&rdquo; part of it all. Sanchez&rsquo;s remarks, regardless of intent, highlight the pervasive nature of the criminal element.<\/p>\n<p>There is no deed too dastardly and no depth too low to stoop to when it comes to someone already committed to breaking the law.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of which, as you can surely surmise via common sense, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/meet-nyc-punk-18-incidents-record-police-say-attacked-blind-woman-set-someones-hair-fire\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York City<\/a> &mdash; a deep blue haven of Democratic leadership &mdash;&nbsp;<em>already&nbsp;<\/em>has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation.<\/p>\n<p>According to anti-Second Amendment advocacy group <a href=\"https:\/\/everytownresearch.org\/rankings\/?_gl=1*19d29a1*_ga*MTQyNzY3MzEyMi4xNzQ3Nzc5NjUz*_ga_68QYBV181T*czE3NDc3Nzk2NTIkbzEkZzAkdDE3NDc3Nzk2NTIkajAkbDAkaDA.*_ga_1FTV9KT752*czE3NDc3Nzk2NTMkbzEkZzAkdDE3NDc3Nzk2NTMkajAkbDAkaDA.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Everytown<\/a>, New York, as a state, ranks as having the fourth-strongest gun restrictions in the country, behind only California, Massachusetts and Illinois &mdash; the last of which is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/dnc-delegate-receives-full-chicago-experience-gets-robbed-gunpoint\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">joke<\/a> unto itself.<\/p>\n<p>(For the curious, Everytown lists Idaho, Mississippi, Arkansas and Montana as the four least-restrictive states when it comes to gun rights and ownership.)<\/p>\n<p>I ask again: How do you square this very round peg through that very square hole? If some freedom-encroaching restrictions aren&rsquo;t enough to curtail gun violence, more will fix it?
