They operate the vessels that transport goods, energy, and raw materials to and from our shores, supporting global trade and connecting United States producers with international markets.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Their work supports key industries across the American economy, including shipping, shipbuilding, logistics, and energy.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Last May, former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/bombshell-biden-told-us-cancer-2022-just-thought-confused\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Joe Biden<\/a> issued a similar proclamation.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Our Nation&rsquo;s merchant mariners embody the highest aspirations of our democracy, always answering our country&rsquo;s call with commitment and courage,&rdquo; Biden <a href=\"https:\/\/bidenwhitehouse.archives.gov\/briefing-room\/presidential-actions\/2024\/05\/21\/a-proclamation-on-national-maritime-day-2024\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote<\/a>. &ldquo;Today, we honor their service and sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Together, we recommit to meeting our sacred obligation to care for them and their families.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>One key difference between the two, however?<\/p>\n<p>Unlike Biden, Trump was the only one who signed an executive order committing to &ldquo;maritime dominance.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/04\/restoring-americas-maritime-dominance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">order<\/a> titled &ldquo;Restoring America&rsquo;s Maritime Dominance,&rdquo;
