Under the EB-5 program, foreign investors can apply to obtain a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/democrats-demand-green-cards-for-temporary-protected-aliens-in-d-c-rally\/\" title=\"Democrats demand ...s for \u2018temporary protected\u2019 aliens in D.C. rally\">permanent resident card<\/a> (known as a green card) and conditionally become permanent residents of the U.S. if they can invest in &ldquo;a commercial enterprise&rdquo; in the country and &ldquo;plan to create or <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >preserve 10 permanent full-time jobs<\/a> for qualified U.S. workers.&rdquo; The program was created in 1990 to &ldquo;stimulate the U.S. economy through job creation and capital investment by foreign investors.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>At the event, Lutnick revealed the website would debut in a week or so.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I expect there will be a website up called &lsquo;Trump card dot gov&rsquo; in about a week,&rdquo; said Lutnick. &ldquo;The details of that will come soon after, but people can start to register.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Initially, the website will merely allow registrations to interested parties, Lutnick said at Wednesday&rsquo;s event.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;All that will come over a matter of the next weeks, not month, weeks,&rdquo; the Commerce Secretary said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds from the new gold card program are expected to be used to help trim the country&rsquo;s federal debt, currently at over $36 trillion, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/tag\/cnn\/\" title=\"\">CNN<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;These are going to be great people who are going to come and bring businesses and opportunity to America, and they&rsquo;re going to pay $5 million,&rdquo; <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2025\/05\/21\/business\/us-gold-card-investor-visa\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a> Lutnick. &ldquo;If there are 200,000 people who pay, that&rsquo;s a trillion dollars. That pays for everything.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>As the <em>Washington Examiner<\/em> previously <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3397282\/trump-gold-card-proposal-house-judiciary-budget-talks\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a>, President Donald Trump first teased the innovative visa program during a press conference in February at the White House.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We&rsquo;re going to be selling a gold card,&rdquo; Trump said at the time. &ldquo;You have a green card. This is a gold card. We&rsquo;re going to be putting a price on that card of about $5 million, and that&rsquo;s going to give you <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/trump-wants-to-sell-5-million-gold-card-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Trump wants to sell ... &#039;...&#039; - Washington Examiner\">green card privileges<\/a>, plus it&rsquo;s going to be a route to citizenship. And wealthy people will be coming into our country by buying this card.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Lutnick has been highly supportive of the plan since Trump first introduced it in February.
