Kaine accused the administration of favoring white asylum-seekers<\/a>, particularly referencing a refugee program for Afrikaner farmers from South Africa, which Kaine suggested was racially biased. Rubio countered by stating that thes farmers face persecution in their home country, highlighting recent laws that allow land confiscation without compensation. The exchange escalated, with Kaine questioning if different standards should apply based on skin color, to which Rubio replied that the situation was based on the victims’ experiences of violence and discrimination. Rubio further asserted that U.S. immigration policy must prioritize national interests<\/a>, leading to a debate on fairness and the criteria used in refugee admissions.
