These changes are part of President Donald Trump’s campaign promise to tackle crime and support law enforcement. The DOJ is seeking to dismiss lawsuits against the police departments in Louisville, Kentucky, and Minneapolis, Minnesota, wich where accused of unconstitutional practices based on findings that the current leadership claims were flawed and unjustified. the department argues that the lawsuits imposed needless federal oversight on local police operations, diverting control away from community leaders. Additionally, investigations against several other police departments in cities such as Phoenix, Arizona, and Trenton, New Jersey, are also being closed. The DOJ’s actions reflect a shift towards unencumbering local law enforcement to effectively manage crime.

One of President Donald Trump’s big promises on the campaign trail last November was to crack down on crime.

A frequent complaint heard from constituents and prospective voters was that Democrats were too soft on crime —
