That decision was made in conjunction with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/3336070\/multiagency-task-force-reviews-columbia-funding-over-inaction-antisemitism\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"task force\">task force<\/a> that includes the Education Department and the General Services Administration.<\/p>\n<p>The task force determined that the university violated Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by allowing anti-Israel protests to escalate to antisemitism. Columbia University had its grants pulled as well.<\/p>\n<p>Harvard President Alan Garber launched his own task force to investigate antisemitism. It released a report detailing incidents since October 7, 2023, which prompted an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/3396422\/harvard-antisemitism-report-promises-change-islamophobia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"apology\">apology<\/a> from Garber.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/education\/3373326\/harvard-borrowing-bonds-federal-funding-uncertainty\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>HARVARD TURNS TO BORROWING BONDS AMID FEDERAL FUNDING UNCERTAINTY<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I am sorry for the moments when we failed to meet the high expectations we rightfully set for our community,&rdquo; Garber wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Garber has been president since January of last year.
