As of May, ther are 464,370 registered Republicans, compared to 440,790 registered Democrats, reflecting a shift from the county&#8217;s traditionally Democratic stronghold to a Republican majority. This change has been attributed to various factors, including voter roll maintenance that removed a important number of voters from the rolls, allowing Republicans to gain over 38,000 new registrants. Ron DeSantis (R-FL). &ldquo;Today, the county, with more than 2.8 million people, has a Republican voter registration advantage. Nobody would have predicted this 10 years ago.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>DeSantis also won Miami-Dade in his 2022 reelection bid. He and President Donald Trump won the county by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3222100\/florida-republicans-prove-midterm-wave-no-fluke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">essentially the same margins<\/a>, with DeSantis winning by 11.3 points and Trump by 11.4 points.<\/p>\n<p>These figures came after Miami-Dade executed its off-year voter roll maintenance and took 172,747 voters from its active rolls, which led to Republicans gaining more than 38,000 voters, according to Decision Desk HQ.<\/p>\n<p>Voters classified as &ldquo;others&rdquo; made up 460,783 voters of the county&rsquo;s voters, or 33.7%.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3222100\/florida-republicans-prove-midterm-wave-no-fluke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\"><strong>FLORIDA REPUBLICANS PROVE MIDTERM WAVE WAS NO FLUKE WITH SWEEPING WINS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/campaigns\/3137857\/where-republicans-gained-voter-registration-ahead-november\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">maintain an overall voter advantage<\/a> in the state of 1,291,891.
