<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/controversial-mlb-legend-dies-83\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">would pass away<\/a> in September 2024, and many of his supporters made the argument that Rose should now be eligible for the Hall of Fame after having served a literal &ldquo;life&rdquo;-time ban.<\/p>\n<p>Those calls eventually reached the ears of MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, who posthumously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/breaking-mlb-reinstates-controversial-legends-including-pete-rose\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reinstated<\/a> Rose to baseball on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>After all these years, Rose &mdash; finally &mdash; is eligible for the Hall of Fame. And while that&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/inflation-ticked-up-to-3-3-in-july-in-feds-preferred-gauge\/\" title=\"July saw a rise to 3.3% in inflation, as per the Fed&#039;s preferred gauge.\">undoubtedly good news<\/a> for his fans, that does come with one caveat: There&rsquo;s still a very robust, very old-school panel of Hall of Fame voters who have to actually get Rose in, and many will likely frown on Rose&rsquo;s sordid past.<\/p>\n<p>As Sportico puts it in its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportico.com\/feature\/national-baseball-hall-of-fame-voting-rules-ballot-1234763301\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explanation<\/a> for how the <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >convoluted voting process works<\/a>: &ldquo;If it seems exclusive and not inclusive, it is.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Rose has the hurdles of needing to come off the ban list &mdash; which he did &mdash; then having his candidacy formally reviewed, and then, finally, going through the normal voting process, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wlwt.com\/article\/pete-rose-hall-of-fame-reinstatement-eligible-reds\/64760629#:~:text=The%20late%20Pete%20Rose%20will,Fame%20Ballot%20beginning%20in%202027.&amp;text=May%2013%2C%202025-,The%20National%20Baseball%20Hall%20of%20Fame%20released%20a%20statement%20after,removed%20from%20the%20ineligible%20list.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according<\/a> to WLWT-TV.<\/p>\n<p>In short, three-quarters of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/yes-biden-is-hiding-his-plan-to-rig-the-2022-midterm-elections\/\" title=\"Yes, Biden Is Hiding His Plan To Rig The 2022 Midterm Elections\">voting board<\/a> must give a nod to a player for him to enter the Hall of Fame, and that presents a struggle for Rose, who can&rsquo;t defend his case &mdash; at least, not <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/pete-rose-pens-letter-directly-mlb-commissioner-asking-forgiveness\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anymore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>But his daughter can.<\/p>\n<p>And she did as much in a wide-ranging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/athletic\/6356421\/2025\/05\/14\/pete-rose-daughter-hall-of-fame\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> with The Athletic.<\/p>\n<p>Fawn Rose &mdash; the oldest of Pete&rsquo;s five children &mdash; recounted the time that she went with a family lawyer to plead her father&rsquo;s case for reinstatement with MLB officials, including Manfred, following his death.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I didn&rsquo;t sugarcoat anything. It was the good, bad and the ugly,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;He&rsquo;s at fault. But he&rsquo;s our dad. And he&rsquo;s human.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>That plea appeared to have worked, at least in part, given Manfred&rsquo;s decision to reinstate Pete Rose earlier this week.<\/p>\n<p>And now Fawn Rose has one more plea &mdash; this time for those aforementioned Hall of Fame voters that will ultimately decide Pete&rsquo;s Hall of Fame candidacy.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;His achievements on the field, I don&rsquo;t think there&rsquo;s ever going to be another Pete Rose, someone who played with heart and grit and left everything on the field and played every day for the fans,&rdquo; Fawn said. &ldquo;When he made the comment that he&rsquo;d run through (hell) in a gasoline suit (to play baseball), he meant that.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;He was really that blue-collar worker. That&rsquo;s the one thing I would want the Hall of Fame to look at &ndash; the accomplishments of the player on the field. That&rsquo;s really important. I know there&rsquo;s the other side of it. I&rsquo;m a parent. But I&rsquo;m a kid.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;I think it&rsquo;s just meaningful,&rdquo; she added.&nbsp;&ldquo;And I just wish he could be around if it did happen.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>It&rsquo;s not just Fawn, either. Pete Rose has some powerful friends who think quite highly of him, such as President Donald <a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114085325641437111\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The aforementioned formal review of Rose&rsquo;s Hall of Fame candidacy isn&rsquo;t slated to happen until December 2027.
