The allegations originated from a report in the Daily Mail, which suggested that Noem, who has faced criticism for her involvement in immigration raids and other DHS activities, supported the show&#8217;s development.DHS spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin dismissed the report as &#8220;fully false&#8221; and clarified that Noem has neither endorsed nor reviewed any pitches for scripted or reality shows. She emphasized that the show idea, which features immigrants competing for U.S. citizenship, is still undergoing a vetting process and has not yet received approval. Sign To Read \u2018HOLLYBOOB\u2019\">reality show<\/a>,&rdquo; she said. &ldquo;The Department of Homeland Security receives hundreds of television show pitches a year, ranging from documentaries surrounding [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] and [Customs and Border Protection] border operation to white collar investigations by [Homeland Security Investigations]. Each proposal undergoes a thorough <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/pentagon-to-review-senior-official-linked-to-iranian-government-group\/\" title=\"Pentagon to assess senior official&#039;s ties to Iranian government group.\">vetting process prior<\/a> to denial or approval. If the excuse for a reporter at the <em>Daily Mail<\/em> had even thought to ask, he would have learned the show in question is in the very beginning stages of that vetting process and has not received approval or denial by staff.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>McLaughlin told the outlet that the agency was reviewing the pitch and had a call with the producer, Canadian-born Rob Worsoff, who also produced the popular show <em>Duck Dynasty<\/em>. She added that she thinks &ldquo;it&rsquo;s a good idea.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The outlet reported that the agency and Noem &ldquo;have been working for weeks to get such a project greenlit from Netflix or another streaming or cable service.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The show, called <em>The American<\/em>, would feature immigrants to the United States who are working on obtaining citizenship.
