Earlier this year, before he was chosen as pope, Leo <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/drprevost\/status\/1886469097560719594\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"shared\">shared<\/a> a story from the <em>National Catholic Reporter <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncronline.org\/opinion\/guest-voices\/jd-vance-wrong-jesus-doesnt-ask-us-rank-our-love-others\">headlined<\/a>, &ldquo;JD Vance is wrong: Jesus doesn&rsquo;t ask us to rank our love for others.&rdquo; The article criticized Vance over his immigration stance.<\/p>\n<p>Vance has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/3405781\/pope-leo-jd-vance-francis-opposition-immigration-stance\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"commented on\">commented on<\/a> the concept of the <em>ordo amoris<\/em>, meaning &ldquo;order of love,&rdquo; saying people are called to love their family first, followed by their neighbors, community, country, and, finally, the rest of the world. How can you stay quiet?&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>Trump, who called Leo a &ldquo;surprising choice&rdquo; for the position, said he would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/policy\/foreign-policy\/3411604\/trump-would-like-discuss-immigration-surprise-choice-pope-leo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">like to discuss<\/a> immigration with the pope.
