During a court appearance in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, Dugan entered her plea shortly after being indicted by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/missouri-man-charged-with-threatening-to-murder-2-us-congressmen\/\" title=\"Missouri Man Charged With Threatening to Murder 2 US Congressmen\">federal grand jury<\/a>. The trial is tentatively scheduled for July 21.<\/p>\n<p>Dugan allegedly assisted an individual, who was appearing in her courtroom, in avoiding detention by misdirecting federal immigration officials. She faces charges that include obstructing a federal agency, which could result in a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a $350,000 fine. In her defense,Dugan&#8217;s legal team plans to file a motion to dismiss the charges,citing a Supreme Court decision regarding presumptive immunity for official acts,arguing that her actions were part of her judicial duties. Following her arrest last month, the Wisconsin Supreme Court temporarily suspended Dugan from her role as a judge. Dugan was charged with obstructing a federal agency and concealing a person wanted for arrest. The pair of charges carries a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a $350,000 fine.<\/p>\n<p>Dugan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/justice\/3410982\/milwaukee-judge-hannah-dugan-obstruction-case-motion-to-dismiss-trump-presidential-immunity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"filed\">filed<\/a> a motion to dismiss the charges, using the 2024 Supreme Court decision in <em>Trump v. United States<\/em> to argue she was conducting official acts and is immune from prosecution for those actions. The landmark 2024 decision established &ldquo;presumptive immunity&rdquo; for all official acts of the president.
