The article claims that the pardon process, once a serious legal undertaking, has increasingly become a tool for political favor under Biden. <\/p>\n<p>It highlights the surge in pardons Biden issued, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/were-bidens-autopen-pardons-legal-trump-says-question-should-be-up-to-a-court-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Were ...\u2019s \u2018autopen\u2019 ... legal? ... says question should be \u2018up to a court\u2019 - Washington Examiner\">including controversial preemptive<\/a> ones for family members and associates, which some view as a confirmation of their guilt. Moreover, it points out that Biden&#8217;s late-term actions included pardoning his son Hunter shortly before his sentencing for serious charges, contradicting his earlier statements regarding favoritism in legal matters.<\/p>\n<p>The piece expresses concern about the sidelining of the Justice Department&#8217;s office of the Pardon Attorney under Trump, indicating a growing reliance on the whims of the president rather than a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/nyc-mayor-admits-hell-sometimes-wake-up-in-the-morning-and-flip-himself-off-in-the-mirror\/\" title=\"NYC Mayor Confesses to Morning Mirror Gesture\">formal legal process<\/a>. Jordan Boyd from The Federalist, who authored the summary, emphasizes concerns regarding corruption in the clemency process and the implications of the current management&#8217;s actions.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/te0lZ#selection-2889.0-2896.0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">published an article<\/a> on Wednesday complaining that President Donald Trump has &ldquo;turned the pardon process into the Wild West&rdquo; without hardly addressing the unprecedented pardon rampage that dominated President Joe Biden&rsquo;s White House tenure.  <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;What had long been a sober legal proceeding done by career officials in the Justice Department increasingly resides in the White House and depends on the whims of a president who is receptive to arguments of political persecution,&rdquo; the article states. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Sober-minded&rdquo; is not a fair or accurate description of the recent get out of <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >jail free frenzy led<\/a> by an obviously mentally declining president who issued the largest number of pardons (<a href=\"https:\/\/truthsocial.com\/@realDonaldTrump\/posts\/114175908922736427\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">some allege using an autopen).<\/a> to date.<\/p>\n<p>Biden&rsquo;s rushed end-of-term pardons included <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/02\/after-hunters-pardon-its-time-to-prosecute-the-rest-of-the-biden-crime-family\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">unprecedented preemptive forgiveness<\/a> for family members such as his brother James Biden and reckless bureaucrats such as Mark Milley and Anthony Fauci, <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/20\/mentally-incompetent-biden-confirms-guilt-of-j6-committee-fauci-milley-with-last-minute-pardons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">essentially confirming their guilt.<\/a> More notably, the Democrat <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/02\/hunter-is-treated-differently-by-deep-state-but-not-how-joe-bidens-pardon-suggests\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">exculpated his son<\/a> of several tax evasion and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/hunter-is-treated-differently-but-not-how-joes-pardon-suggests\/\" title=\"Hunter Is \u2018Treated Differently,\u2019 But Not How Joe\u2019s Pardon Suggests\">federal gun convictions mere weeks<\/a> before his scheduled sentencing, even though he <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/02\/corporate-media-should-be-flogged-for-accepting-serial-liar-bidens-pledge-not-to-pardon-hunter\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">repeatedly insisted<\/a> his offspring would not get a free pass for his alleged crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Biden also <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/12\/12\/biden-quietly-commuted-sentences-of-chinese-spies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">quietly commuted<\/a> the sentences of Chinese spies, including one who was&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/courts\/2022\/02\/07\/allen-man-who-attended-smu-pleads-guilty-after-47000-child-porn-images-found-on-computer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">convicted<\/a>&nbsp;after &ldquo;police found more than 47,000 images and videos of child pornography in his computer.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The authors, all WSJ reporters, devoted just one of their more than three dozen paragraphs to acknowledge that &ldquo;Biden also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/o\/te0lZ\/https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/politics\/policy\/presidential-pardons-escalate-as-modern-political-weapon-cb566e20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">skirted the pardon system<\/a>.&rdquo; They immediately followed that small admission with a paragraph criticizing Trump for issuing &ldquo;more pardons than any of his predecessors at this stage of a presidential term.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The placement of that factoid was deliberately designed to redirect negative attention away from Biden&rsquo;s elbow-rubbing pardon frenzy back to Trump. Even after one term and counting, however, Trump issued only a fraction of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.justice.gov\/pardon\/pardons-granted-president-joseph-biden-2021-present\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">8,064 pardons Biden initiated<\/a> over his four years in office.  <\/p>\n<p>Would the Founding Fathers, who warned that&nbsp;&ldquo;the benign prerogative for pardoning should be as little as possible fettered or embarrassed,&rdquo; be happy about the significant increase in presidential pardons since George Washington&rsquo;s days? Probably not. They would, however, likely <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/01\/22\/what-the-founding-fathers-would-have-to-say-about-biden-and-trumps-presidental-pardons\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">understand<\/a> Trump&rsquo;s attempt to rectify the nation-destroying harms Democrat-led lawfare wreaked on Americans during Biden&rsquo;s term through the lens of Alexander Hamilton&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/avalon.law.yale.edu\/18th_century\/fed74.asp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Federalist 74<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The quality of the pardons granted by Trump versus those granted by Biden, however, is also wholly ignored by the authors. In fact, Trump&rsquo;s sympathy towards &ldquo;defendants he believes have been wrongly prosecuted&rdquo; such as pro-lifers and J6ers was lamented by the WSJ writers as just another way convicted criminals &ldquo;use lobbyists, personal connections to president&rdquo; to obtain clemency.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Traditionally, the Justice Department&rsquo;s Office of the Pardon Attorney has played a key role in the clemency process,&rdquo; the article continued. &ldquo;The office was sidelined after Trump took office, according to Liz Oyer, who had been the pardon attorney until she was fired in March.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>What the WSJ wrote as an alleged concern actually suggests a startling admission. If the DOJ, which <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2023\/08\/16\/americans-divided-by-party-over-trump-election-cases-poll\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">few U.S. adults<\/a> say they have confidence in, truly &ldquo;played a key role in the clemency process&rdquo; during the Biden administration by aiding and abetting the president&rsquo;s attempt to wash away his family&rsquo;s alleged sins, then it <em>is <\/em>corrupt and deserves to be circumvented &mdash; if not dismantled. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
