After Trump&#8217;s declaration aimed to safeguard women&#8217;s sports, Mills expressed her intention to disregard the order during a White House event wiht other governors. Another restricts access to facilities used in athletics to only females.<\/p>\n<p>A third bans &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/international-olympic-committee-declares-transwomen-are-women-as-laurel-hubbard-prepares-to-compete\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">transgender<\/a>&rdquo; students from school bathrooms and other facilities used by females, as well as female athletic programs.<\/p>\n<p>A fourth bill bans school districts from implementing policies that allow students to use bathrooms that align with their gender identity.<\/p>\n<p>The Star reported, two other bills look to change the Maine Human Rights Act, which was amended in 2021 to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/biden-administration-to-extend-federal-mask-mandate-into-2022\/\" title=\"Biden Administration To Extend Federal Mask Mandate Into 2022\">stop discrimination based<\/a> on gender identity. Another bill aims to remove gender identity from the Human Rights Act completely.<\/p>\n<p>This opposition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/kentucky-gop-quick-to-defend-trump-vance-against-beshears-attacks-washington-examiner\/\" title=\"Kentucky GOP quick to defend Trump, Vance against Beshear\u2019s attacks - Washington Examiner\">governor doesn&#038;rsquo<\/a>;t just extend to the general assembly.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/sports\/more-maine-schools-ban-trans-athletes-from-girls-sports-defying-democrat-leadership-siding-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fox News<\/a> reported, multiple protests against &ldquo;transgender&rdquo; athletes in women&rsquo;s sports have taken place in Maine, with two taking place at the state Capitol in August 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Fox noted, two weeks ago, a male won first place in a series of track events in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/state-maine-referred-doj-refusing-sign-title-ix-agreement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Maine<\/a>, further proving why this issue is so important.<\/p>\n<p>The athlete competed for North Yarmouth Academy in Yarmouth in the 1,600-meter at the Poland-NYA-Yarmouth-Seacoast meet, winning first with a 5:57.27 time.
