The U.S. Capitol Police confirmed thes arrests were made after protesters,advocating against proposed cuts to Medicaid,chanted slogans like &#8220;no cuts to Medicaid&#8221; and displayed signs as the hearing commenced. Police began to clear the area, including press members, and some protesters were forcibly removed from inside the hearing room.<\/p>\n<p>Prominent Democratic Senators Brian Schatz, Tina Smith, and Cory Booker attended the hearing to advocate for constituents who might be adversely affected by proposed changes to Medicaid. these proposed changes aim to implement <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/only-two-sitting-senators-voted-against-work-requirements-in-historic-welfare-overhaul\/\" title=\"Only two sitting senators voted against work requirements in historic welfare overhaul\">federal work requirements<\/a> for Medicaid,potentially resulting in the loss of insurance for approximately 8.6 million peopel by 2034. Inside the hearing, police officers were wheeling out protesters across the committee floor who were yelling at the lawmakers and attendees.<\/p>\n<p>Sens. Brian Schatz (D-HI), Tina Smith (D-MN), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) attended the committee hearing. Democrats are prepared to have heated debates <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3408938\/house-gop-energy-commerce-hearing-medicaid-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">over the committee&rsquo;s markup<\/a>, which would impose the first federal work requirements on Medicaid and other changes to the healthcare program for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/why-suggesting-a-tax-hike-right-now-is-a-terrible-idea\/\" title=\"Why Suggesting A Tax Hike Right Now Is A Terrible Idea\">lower-income people<\/a>, reducing the number of people with health insurance by 8.6 million by 2034.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We are going over to deliver some letter&hellip;from our constituents about how damaging this Medicaid cuts are that the House is taking up right now, 14 million people losing their health insurance,&rdquo; the senators <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/frankthorp\/status\/1922358589798146169?s=46&amp;t=p4z4841G0T5BjMHvWHQbTQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">said<\/a>, according to NBC News&rsquo;s Frank Thorp V. &ldquo;And we want to draw attention to what it is they&rsquo;re trying to do.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>The senators left the hearing shortly after 2:45 p.m. and met with protesters. They are expected to last for several hours as Democrats and Republicans argue over the content of the megabill.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/house\/3408938\/house-gop-energy-commerce-hearing-medicaid-cuts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">HOUSE GOP&rsquo;S MEDICAID REFORMS WILL BE HASHED OUT IN PUBLIC<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Some fiscal hawks have argued that the language and instruction in Energy and Commerce&rsquo;s bill do not go far enough. Rep.
