Despite the Hyde Amendment restricting taxpayer money from directly subsidizing abortions,this funding is claimed to support Planned Parenthood&#8217;s operations. While the organization promotes the necessity of this funding for essential health services, statistics reveal that a vast majority of its pregnancy services focus on abortions rather than prenatal care. Critics argue that Planned Parenthood&#8217;s practices include legal violations and financial mismanagement, and they assert that community health centers and pro-life pregnancy centers serve pregnant women more effectively. pro-life advocates are urging lawmakers to eliminate federal funding for Planned Parenthood and redirect taxpayer dollars away from abortion services. The call to action has gained traction among over 183 legislators across various states.  <\/p>\n<p class=\"readmore\">\n    <button onclick=\"showReadMore()\" id=\"readmorebtn\">Read more&#8230;<\/button>\n<\/p>\n<hr id=\"line\">\n<span id=\"more\"><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The majority of Americans <a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/newsroom\/press-releases\/new-marist-poll-confirms-7-in-10-americans-want-limits-on-abortion\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">oppose<\/a> the use of their tax dollars to fund abortions yet Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the country, consistently uses the hundreds of millions of dollars it receives in federal funding to prop up its baby-killing business. <\/p>\n<p>According to the abortion giant&rsquo;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/uploads\/filer_public\/21\/02\/2102bd3b-92cc-405a-8abd-0cf144a88846\/2024-ppfa-annualreport-c3-digital.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">latest annual report<\/a>, Planned Parenthood raked in nearly $800 million in taxpayer funds from 2023 to 2024. During that same period, Planned Parenthood also performed a record number of abortions &mdash; more than 402,000. <\/p>\n<p>While the Hyde Amendment technically forbids tax dollars from subsidizing abortions, the government&rsquo;s decision to funnel hundreds of millions of Americans&rsquo; hard-earned cash to Planned Parenthood no doubt helped sustain its pro-abortion operations and mission. The $792.2 million Planned Parenthood received via &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/republicans-weigh-defunding-planned-parenthood-with-trump-megabill\/\" title=\"Republicans weigh de... ... with Trump megabill\">government health services reimbursement<\/a> and grants&rdquo; was responsible for the largest portion, 39 percent, of its 2023 to 2024 revenue. <\/p>\n<div>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Planned Parenthood and its corporate media allies often claim that cutting its federal funding will&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/50833\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">increase direct spending<\/a>&nbsp;and keep its facilities from&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.plannedparenthood.org\/about-us\/newsroom\/press-releases\/ipm-defunding-planned-parenthood-would-have-devastating-consequences-for-communities-across-the-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">offering preventative care like cancer screenings<\/a>. Approximately <a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/fact-sheet-planned-parenthoods-2022-23-annual-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">97 percent<\/a>&nbsp;of Planned Parenthood&rsquo;s &ldquo;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/its-time-for-congress-to-defund-planned-parenthood\/\" title=\"It&#039;s Time For Congress To De... ...\">pregnancy resolution services&#038;rdquo<\/a>; between&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/fact-sheet-planned-parenthoods-2022-23-annual-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2021 and 2022<\/a>, however, were dedicated to abortions, not prenatal oversight or adoptions.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to ending unborn lives or&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2013\/02\/07\/probe-demanded-of-planned-parenthood-doc-who-killed-woman-in-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">botching their attempts to<\/a>&nbsp;do so, Planned Parenthood has a history of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2016\/06\/24\/new-evidence-planned-parenthood-broke-federal-law-lied-to-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">allegedly flouting federal law<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/lozierinstitute.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/plannedparenthood-profit-no-matter-what.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wasting tax dollars<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heritage.org\/gender\/commentary\/dont-defend-planned-parenthoods-gender-affirming-care-defund-it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dispensing castrating drugs<\/a>&nbsp;to confused minors, reportedly&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2024\/11\/22\/report-planned-parenthood-caught-selling-viable-fetuses-to-university-of-california-san-diego\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">trafficking baby<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2020\/04\/15\/new-unsealed-documents-show-planned-parenthood-profited-from-aborted-baby-body-parts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">body parts,<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2022\/07\/20\/want-to-know-who-is-really-empowered-by-abortion-sex-traffickers-and-abusers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">enabling abusers<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/florida-investigation-of-planned-parenthood-clinics-finds-deficiencies-1438817376\">allegedly performing unlicensed<\/a>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2016\/01\/29\/planned-parenthood-breaks-state-law-to-open-unlicensed-abortion-clinic-in-kentucky\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">procedures<\/a>&nbsp;and violating&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/6abc.com\/archive\/9059172\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">health<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/02\/15\/us\/planned-parenthood-clinics.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">safety standards<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.stlpr.org\/politics-issues\/2018-02-23\/protest-buffer-zone-at-st-louis-planned-parenthood-narrowly-earns-first-round-approval#stream\/0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">opposing free speech<\/a>, and conducting procedures that have resulted in&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifenews.com\/2012\/10\/09\/deaths-at-planned-parenthood-show-no-concern-for-women\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">mothers&rsquo; deaths<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Not only is Planned Parenthood bad at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/new-utah-law-requires-biological-dads-to-pay-pregnancy-support\/\" title=\"New Utah Law Requires Biological Dads To Pay Pregnancy Support\">helping pregnant women<\/a> and their children, but its facilities are <a href=\"https:\/\/thefederalist.com\/2025\/05\/07\/report-health-centers-that-care-for-women-outnumber-planned-parenthood-by-15-to-1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">outnumbered<\/a> 15 to one by community health centers, which receive far less federal funding, and outperformed by another <a href=\"https:\/\/crisispregnancycentermap.com\/#:~:text=2%2C633%20CPCs%20were%20operating%20in,as%20of%20March%2031%2C%202024.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2,<a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/3YuVZYV\" >600 pro-life pregnancy centers<\/a><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;This report heightens the urgency to defund Big Abortion and stop forcing taxpayers to fund an industry that destroys unborn lives and preys on women and girls,&rdquo; Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America said in a statement calling on the Republican-controlled Congress to finalize a &ldquo;budget reconciliation process that finally gets taxpayers out of the abortion business.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>More than 183 lawmakers across 49 states <a href=\"https:\/\/sbaprolife.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/State-Legislature-Defunding-Letter.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">joined the chorus<\/a> of pro-lifers demanding the GOP majority in the U.S. House and Senate take action to &ldquo;stop federal Medicaid dollars from going to Big Abortion&rdquo; as soon as possible. <\/p>\n<hr>\n<p>      Jordan Boyd is a staff writer at The Federalist and producer of The Federalist Radio Hour.
